dubstep producers and djs deserve more credit!!!
these days the music industry is filled with shitty rock bands
and i think personally the scratch djs and dubstep dj/producers deserve more credit
and should be equalled with todays rock bands who get there music aired on sky music channels and radio 1.
anyone agree???

anyone agree???
This. My mate who wants to learn to mix simply wouldn't believe that it was so difficult so I put him in front of my decks and after about a minute he said "oh this is really hard - i thought i'd at least be able to get a couple of mixes in time".Spire wrote:yes and no. there are shitty rock bands, but good luck convincing people that "that guy up there who plays other peoples records" has as much talent.
stick them in front of turntables and say "ok, do it".
And its not only djing. Try telling people that its hard making beats and they look at you and say "yeah, but it's all just done by the computer innit".
Signatures suck
That's funny, every time I'm out they play shitty rock music and shitty drum n bass and shitty house and shitty hip-hop and yes, shitty dubstep. I think it's got more to do with the music being shitty, most of all.
And more credit from who? Rockists? Most people like electronic music in one shape or form and the few who don't and dislike it because it's 'just some computer noises that take no talent' aren't really people who's opinions on music I take seriously. And don't get me started on electronic musicians who reduce, for example, death metal to headache inducing, talentless noise.
Most of all, though. I just listen to the music and I don't give a fuck about how it's made, meh.

I think the people who already listen to and enjoy Dubstep give the DJs and producers they like all the credit they deserve and that is all that matters...by expecting more credit would mean having to introduce the genre to the mainstream for 'approval' and i feel commercialisation can only be a bad thing in the long run...
you should do this instead...DID wrote:I normally have to shake my pc while it writes to create a wobble aswell.ytee wrote: Sure is...I just type the word dubstep and maybe the word cockney and boom out pops a tune.

Agree with all of this (DJing well is hard - as much for tune selection as beat matching too... a properly crafted DJ set is a work of pure talent, knowledge and practise - people take guys like Skream for granted, but he knows how to soundtrack a party like not many others).jrj2020 wrote:And its not only djing. The beats thing gets me everytime - I've been teaching myself to make electronic music for 2 1/2 years now and I'm still not quite there... I still make progress every week it seems... as a kid I learnt to play the flute - I was at Grade 4 by this amount of time gone and I only used to practise for an hour a week. This has been about 5 hours every night for 2 1/2 years and I still consider myself a relative n00b!

I agree that Skreams selection always seems to move the crowd and production wise i cant fault him but, without trying to sound controversial, ive always found his actual mixing ability to be very below par. In the sets ive heard the timing always seems out and the snares tend to clash alot and he doesnt know how to let 2 tunes play together and sound as one as some DJs are very accomplished at...or maybe i just havnt listened to the right mixes???Magma wrote:People take guys like Skream for granted, but he knows how to soundtrack a party like not many others.
