Ok, not to bitch or nuthing... But exactly how does knowing what gear a producer uses, help your music to improve?

I think there need to be less off these questions on the forum and more tune making.

(I know i haven't got any tunes posted yet, will do this week though) :D
Myspace (dubstep, hiphop & experimental)
Soundcloud (dubstep / experimental)

Which?
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Well, to each it's own.. I see no use in knowing what someone uses to produce. It's personal i guess.. I can see some people wanna know..

Personally I think its good to know what programs artists use, firstly to give faith to those that use the same programs and secondly so that people can not blame the tools they themselves use to make beats if they are not getting a desired sound.

By this i mean, if you use Reason for example and complain that you cant get a 'proper' sound out of it and then find out that so-and-so produced a tune solely in this program it will give you confidence that the program does have the ability of getting a professional sound and will stop you from blaming your tools for the lack of results you may be getting yourself...

yeah, but producers write heavy stuff without logic, and logic isn't only used for heavy stuff. It's a mistake to assume you need a certain program for a certain sound- just get a DAW you're comfortable with

uhhhhhh, hmmmm..... cause its interesting to know! this is a production forum, not a 'ways to make your music improve' forum

i'm pretty sure kromestar uses fruity loops, but it'd be cool to know for sure!

It is cool and these are questions that I used ask too. The truth is however, if you ain't shoppin', then you should be workin with what you got. I used to always have this "next thing" I was gonna get. Juno-G, Dave Smith Mopho, etc., that was gonna "get my sound" for me. The truth is that when I quit mentally masturbating the idea of new gear as musical growth and started watching more tutorials on mixdown and mastering and how to really fuck up the shit I've got, I started to get my own sound. "Big" sounds come out of solid post production work and good EQ work. That's my word.
