sampling phonecalls

i want to record some phonecalls. i have heard this done before but am not to sure how i would go about doing it. obviously a telephone doesnt have a rca or jack output so i dont know how to record it. does anyone know of any devices that perhaps change the output connections or ways of modifying a phone so it can be recorded?

On my sony ericcson theres like a funtion you can do midcall to start recording it, not too sure on the sound quality or anything, ive never tried

Maybe try skype and record through audacity or something?

thats not gonna work. i dont want people to be aware that i am recording them. i think i will get better samples that way

I would advise being cautious about what samples you eventually use if you are planning on anonymous recording like this.

I inadvertently created some "bad juju" by doing something similar and playing the material out at a show.

Go figure the "golden" samples actually offended those who didn't know they were being originally recorded.

radioshack has telephone mics you can get for cheap just a lil suction cup mic that goes on the earpiece
