Well, this is a tune I finished a first version of a few days ago. Im still in the middle of trying to polish it up a bit, make it all sound a bit cleaner...but unfortunately I am starting completely from scratch when it comes to the mixdown side of things, so absoloutely any input on that would be aaaamazing!

Im actually dead fucking happy with this tune! But had like 20 views and no replies in the dubs section
Would love to hear any feedback/criticism you guys might have!
Oh, and im going to have a browse through the last few pages on here later, drop some feedback. But for now...I should probably be doing what im procrastinating as we speak lol

I just finished this tune today and I'm quite happy with it. It's still a relatively raw version but I would love some feedback on it.
So feel free to comment and give me some critique. Thanks!

And wiggle baron, 9 minutes lol

. I love the work on the vocals, how did you work on them? Nice tune bruvv, I don't really notice mixdown problems either, it sounds like a whole.

Nice one man! Glad it sounds alright! To be honest I dont understand what it really means to mix down at all, I just tweak eqs and the like till it sounds like it kind of fits (on my cheap floorstanders anyway lol). The vocals were pretty simple really, it was a little accapela I found on an old history of blues CD by Vera Lynn. Its fucking amazing, and I just cut out a few bits and whacked em in the NNXT. The oooooohhhh kind of noise was a clip of her singing an ooohhh kind of noise, that I reversed. Then assigned an LFO to the pitch of it and some delay/reverb. The other two were just as she sang em really, pitched down a bit I think and reverbed etc.
Listened to yours a few times man, and I reckon theres an absoloutely sick track on the cards there. The bassline is absoloutely menacing lol. And that weeeeird mutated vocal/horn noise or whatever the hell it is sounds sick on it. Thought a couple of things though. I reckon the percussion could do with being made a bit more obvious. Possibly just a bit louder, but I also reckon they could do with being a bit crisper. Maybe a bit more of the higher frequencies too. Theeeen, I reckon there needs to a bit of a change up somewhere. The melody of the bassline is wicked, but I reckon something, blatantly not even that much could be done on the second drop. That whining guitar noise sounds fucking wicked, but I reckon just a change in note here or there or something could just make it go that little bit further
And yeah...I need to work on getting my tune times down lol. They feel wrong if I try and cut em down though...my bad

Yes mate, love the vintage feel

Those eerie pad things that come in at the start

Sound absoloutely sick man! And the whine on the wobbly bit of the bassline, proper haunting business lol One thing, I got to say I did feel like I was waiting for the drums to, I dunno...not drop, but maybe get a little extra something thrown in there. Mind you, 2004 youngsta dread halfstep styles...that is probably about all you get

Oh, and there seems to be a bit of a whine with the bass? Could very well be the player though...

I dunno, a real quiet, really high pitched whine whenever the bass is loud. Ive had it with tunes ive made with reason before too, and Ive got no idea why it happens. It seems to be alright though if youre playing the tune as an mp3 through itunes or whatever, so its not really a massive problem...I would like to find out why the hell it happens though

You're tweaking of eq and volumes sounds like mixdown in my ears, but hey thanks for the comment, was really afraid to see comments, but yours kind of made me relaxt. And your tips, they're great I'll try if they fit the song. I'll also try assigning the lfo to pitch when using vocals, didn't try that one yet.

www.myspace.com/grookidub [in times past]
I reckon I can post another one since I didn't get any feedback from the last one
This one is a more meloncholy, sad piece, and more melodic than most of my tracks. Any feedback and thoughts appreciated! pm me for a 320

Is times past the one? Cos its a wicked tune man! Lovely warm, bouncy bassline. I thought the vocal aaaaahh synth was a bit too much at first, but the drop where that cuts out sounds wicked! The warping little synth melody is definitely where its at too, works with the bassline real well. Can't really think of anything critical to say if im honest! Nice one
A 320 would be class if it was on the cards!
Had a little listen through your other tunes man. Some wicked stuff there! Duet is absoloutely diiiisgusting!!

Big up!
Woah! Mind you, just heard fairy wren! SICK tune man!!!

Bassline is so punishing...would looooove a 320 of that one if it was going!!

Yeah man its a nice one! The atmospherics all work very well in the background, and sample fits nicely too. Oh, and the echoed to fuck piano chords sound the business! All about the second drop (or whatever it is!) around 5-6 mins where the percussions builds up a bit, and you get that high/low siren noise thing. Bassline I thought was getting a little bit dull at first, but there was more than enough other stuff going on, coming in/out that it wasnt a problem really! Although, I reckon if you had a play with the same synths and came up with a little progression of it later on it would sound sick

. Nicely done like!
