The first thing is the snares gotta go. Use a clap and a snare and alternate them or double up your snare with another snare sample. The drums need to bang a lot more.; Beef up your kick too. Most dance music has drops at 8 16, 32 etc., of course there's no exact formula, but it works. Drop around 1 min, 1:30, 2:00 etc. Put some eq on your bass and try to mix a little bit as you go. Your wobble line is good for a first try, but there's lot more to dub than wobble. I'd say build a drop with a different bass and drum rhythm and insert at 2:10 something that ounds, heavier kicks and faster drums since the rest is slow and mellow. You can resample in Simpler in Ableton and fiddle with the lfo's.

Firstly, DON'T BE SO DOWN ABOUT YOUR OWN WORK!
As for the track. Got a tribalesque vibe going on with that break. I'd layer up some other snare sounds (perhaps when the bass kicks in) to emphasize the drop more.
Perhaps some variations on the synth arrangement will help the 'flow', as well as some additional sounds going on in there also...
Hope some of this helps.

i quite like the bass sound to be honest, sounds nice and gritty, but yeah change the drums man! add subtle changes throughout.

Yeah for sure, that I could certainly tell... The thing is, obviously drums are the most important part of a song , but it is just extraordinarily hard to find some good samples and layer them so that they sound sharp and crisp..

So you mean boost up the low ends ?
Resample the bassline its self?LHD wrote:.You can resample in Simpler in Ableton and fiddle with the lfo's.
@ Connection: yeah, I am working on layering, its just hard.. got any advise for some good samples??
@ Krease : Thanks for your kind words!
@-Boring: I would but I dont know how!
Thanks every1, again much appreciated.. your feedback is gold
RE samples, just search this forum for posts with the word sample pack, I've picked up loads in my short time here doing that. For each part of the drums try just wacking a sampler full of different hits, then EQ sweep all of them to find some nice spots and layer them together. There's no harm in throwing in some solid 16th hats/shakers etc. and just playing around with the velocity/pitch on that to give it a bit of groove. It's got some nice elements in there but doesn't really resolve into anything, and yeah be positive about it.
sure. when my tunes are fucking floors, then you'll realize how stupid you sound right now. good luck with that childish nonsense you call "music".Minkay wrote:yeah when someone's opinion from San Diego matters ill call you matePhosphor wrote:extremely boring. make more interesting patterns. take that shitty wobble squeak out and replace it with an interesting hook or sample of some kind.

Alright, I gotta admit this made me laugh a little bit. In all seriousness though, San Diego's got a little bit more going for it than you might thinkMinkay wrote: yeah when someone's opinion from San Diego matters ill call you mate

Not bad for a first attempt, definitely needs some more sounds though. Try some risers and try widening your sounds a bit. Also, layer up your snare and kick drum.
no i didn't. their awesome wobbles were too cool for me.notch wrote:Phosphor growing up you did not play well in the sand box with others did you?Phosphor wrote:sure. when my tunes are fucking floors, then you'll realize how stupid you sound right now. good luck with that childish nonsense you call "music".Minkay wrote:yeah when someone's opinion from San Diego matters ill call you matePhosphor wrote:extremely boring. make more interesting patterns. take that shitty wobble squeak out and replace it with an interesting hook or sample of some kind.![]()

you are the man ! highly appreciated 2 minutes of your timeSlug85 wrote:The whole song is cool but there are parts that you need to fix abit
drum pattern good but needs a more dubby snare with abit more beef to it
Maybe add a few reggae drum rolls for the drops
And really work on your bassline so it proper tumps on your speakers and personally i know wobbles are the easy option i use them alot aswell but you need the right bass sound for a decent wobble i use fl studio and most my songs i edit the LFO myself drawing in the LFO in events you most probly can do this in ableton but cant guarantee hard to explain coz im a fl user but work on the bass alot more
Good tune though bruv
Add more sounds and focus on your bassPS, I am also stuck musically, dont know what next to do with the track
