Just got this stickied.

Sorry to wave-o dont really know what happened to your track. Think it might have been my fault and missed it from the list i definately downloaded the track just must have been a bit slack.

But someone had to miss out anyways because that would have made 21 tracks and virb can only hold 20.

I have to agree with everyone that 20 tracks is far to much. Was only going to post up half as there was so many but couldnt think of a good fair way to do it.

Maybe for the next one the first ten tracks could be considered on a first come first serve basis. This will stop people leaving it down to the last minuet.

This will aslo mean that the comps are run quicker and take up less time so everyone can get on with the next one.

Also maybe we should put a limit on the number of people that download the pack. This will maybe stop the amount of leechers that take, take from the forum and never give anything back.

I mean yes we got 20 entries but over 300 people downloaded the pack.

Maybe the next one only runs for 2 weeks, voting for 1 week, and only the first 10 entries are voted upon. Because it's a shorter time period, we can do more and if people miss out they will be less upset.

Like I said, no worries zillion, I had fun making the track regardless and isn't that really what this is all about? Even if I'm not on the list, just participating with everyone else that entered and also having a finished track in time was cool. Sure I would of loved to see how I would of done, at least feedback, hehe, but I had fun regardless. I linked the track I made in this thread on a previous post, if cats arn't too exhausted by sitting through all the entries ( a lot of listening minutes), hehe, which I really enjoyed, then maybe you can give my track a listen as an unofficial entry.

Thanks again, I will enter the next one as well, and so far I am feeling number 10, but still a couple others as well. Looks like I'm gonna sit through all of them again :)

Good luck to all entries.

Hey wicked stuff from everyone, really interesting how everybody has a different take on things. Think I'm going to have to have a few more listens before casting my vote though...

Also I can't hear my tune up there, maybe it was one that fell out with Virb too, kinda disappointed that it failled to make the grade, but sort of glad too: it could have done with a few more tweeks than my little rushed effort allowed, may stick it up on SC later on

Still it was a fun pack and it was enjoyable to try and work something out of it within the limits of the competition.

10 cuts it for me

18 was really promising, felt the intro, but imo i felt the bassline didnt fit, altho I would of still voted for it if it had switched like bringing in the bass at the drop as a completely different vibe instead of tryin to gel the 2 together, bring the melodic shit back in as a breakdown or outro

I finally voted. Lots of good ones in here, but you can only pick one.

Thanks to everyone for all of the inspiration. I really enjoyed hearing what you did with the samples. Especially because so many folks totally mangled them and turned them into something else.

I know I wont win either, but I appreciate the compliment someone left me. Definitely nice to get some encouragement.

I really liked 2 and 4 as well. 1 has amazing sounds and a great mix too!

Don't agree with this, never good to rush productions as then the quality would start to lack, you'd have everyone trying to finish a tune quickly to get it in first...

Also not about limiting the number of entries, the more the better, all about growing the competition, not putting a cap on it.

If need be I can host all the entries for the next comp on my server and build a site to play them all / allows entrants to upload they own tunes.

I'm completely stoked about the amount of kind words said about mine ^_^
Much thanks for those who were feeling it : )
Never expected it as there were many tracks on par if not pulling eagles on mine (that's right, I've been watching golf like a sad bastard ;) ).
Will be lush if I can do the next pack.

It's hard on one hand, 20 is a lot of tracks to sort through. On the other, it will be difficult to limit the number of entrants without hurting the quality and fun of these contests.

As long as it took I enjoyed listening through all 20 tracks.

Agreed Rosco & contakt.
If it were to be done the way boomstix suggested it would end up unintentionally rejecting people's tracks who haven't had chance to enter theirs in previous sessions, which we don't want.
If the same 10 people keep doing it over and over it's a lil' bit unfair and we could miss out on some wicked tunes :w:

I reckon the present way is good but I see what yer getting at...

good points, i agree that it would probably exclude some people and that's not what i wanted.

maybe i was getting a bit carried away

i do like the idea of a shorter turn around time tho, i'm impatient
