The History of Dubstep Mix

A mood-shifting 64-minute journey through the precursors and early hits of your favorite new sound in music... Obviously I left out a few of the major players (N-Type, Kode9, Plastician and F1 come to mind), but there's only so much time in a mix...

Through a maze of some dark & dank beaty territory, the mix finishes with a couple of my more recent faves that were fresh for 2008.. Most of the hardcore heads have probably heard most of these tracks, but there are probably a few golden nuggets yet to be unearthed even for them...

Hey no prob. Ever since I took "The History of Electronic Dance Music" at UCLA I've been into categorizing and researching electronic music at an unhealthy level. Glad I came across the forum! (I had awhile back but didn't think to register until now)

Dubstep is easily the most interesting thing to happen to electronic music in the past 3-5 years, and I had a lotta catching up to do after I heard my first show only about 6 months ago...

But the good news is, that means its spread all the way across the world in only a few years time (I'm in Hawaii)... The beat is fat, slick & keeps your body moving at 2 different speeds: fast or slow. There's so much going on in every track, thats why it remains so damn addicting. Its kinda like crack.

o yeah... one last thing before i descend back into near-lurk mode:

if you feel I missed anybody one should know about, do me a favor & let me know, cuz i'm always looking for new, good music... i think 'good music' can kinda be defined as music that goes on to influence other people to make more music, if you will... thus the interest with 'histories' and such...

Whats up fellas and felletes, I just wanted to bump this dusty mix for all the newcomers who are interesting in hearing the more modern roots of the dubstep sound. I am talking specifically about a chronologically-arranged collection of some of the definitive originators of the genre, AKA Coki, Mala, Skream, Benga, Loefah and a whole lot more. This mix contains a lot of so-called classic "bangers" and I hope you enjoy it. Thanks & peace again from a windy Honolulu.
