Not to be narrow-minded or anything, but the Irish are hardcore. I met a few bods from Ireland and Hull at Bloc, and I was off me fucking nut by the 6th pint, struggling, and they were just downing back the Cider as if it was water. Birds n' all, they fucking drank as much as the men. They were on the 10th or something and not even slightly tipsy , and I was cross-eyed and fucking wobbling everywhere and falling over and shit. In the end, I just had to leave em' without saying goodbye, coz' I was a bit embarassed about being done over so easily, and by a bird.
I met the same group the morning after, half 10, each with a pint in their hand, bright as a fucking chirpy. Unbelievable.

Electric Picnic is the job, I work at it as stage manager for the little Pod Stage in the 'body and soul area', I always end up crossed by the end of night its great. Its a lot more chilled out then Oxegen.
Oxegen is just 3 days of complete dabotchery and madness, ya gotta make sure ya have the energy for that one or it will eat you alive. And don't forget to eat occasionally.
O and if your English make sure you don't bring a tent with a Union jack on it. One my friends here in the UK said hes mate went to oxegen last year and brought the tent with the union jack not even thinking about it. The first night him and his girlfriend were woken up to 4 lads standing around the tent pissin on it. When he stepped outside they told him to take it down and they were gonna burn it. Bit rough I know. He said he really enjoyed the weekend apart from that.

Agreed. Oxegen can get a nice line-up but it's full of mentalist youngfellas wreckin' the place. I'm not surprised your man got his tent burned - bad form.darigan wrote:Electric Picnic is the job

I may or may not have worked at a certain festival which might have been mentioned on this forum - and saw some very bad things done by attendees and professionals alike.
However, there is an ongoing libel case involving an Irish forum and MCD - the organisers of Oxegen, so I'll just shut up now.

I've gone to oxegen the past 3 years in a row, probably gonna give it a miss this summer I just don't think I have it in me anymore, I'm getting old, 22 now
I was really surprised it got european festival of the year, I want to check out Glastonbury and see what thats like. I had a mate that went to it the year that it was absoultey pissin from the heavens and there were reports of everyone leavin early and he said it was the best festival he ever went to.
HI:FI was another one, Half the size of oxegen, with a double the amount of luntics, whole a weekend of hard dance in a field in Meath, it was put together by Global Gathering. Good Crack
Prodigy have often said that they prefer playin in Ireland cause the crowd are more up for. I've seen a few times but the best one was down in Millstreet in Cork, bonkers

i've never heard that in my life. first search -
The boy's name Cadmar \c(a)-dmar, cad-mar\ is a variant of Cadmus (Greek), and the meaning of Cadmar is "from the east".
sorry mate, better get yourself an irish missus and get some irish blood in the family

As for the Greek. Yes seen that, but also this:
Gender: Male
Origin: Irish
Meaning: The Irish name Cadmar means - brave warrior
Fuck if I know man. Like I said I aint never heard it anywhere else before.
And within 2 weeks he'll be sat in a newly built O'Neills "Traditional Irish Pub" drinking Guiness, wearing a silly hat and trying to shout the loudest and most Irish sounding phrase at a rugby match.darigan wrote:Irelands own method of invading a country, Send in 1 man armed with only a sleeping bag and a telephone number.DROKKR wrote:he meaning of Cadmar is "from the east".

Or is that just in Shepherd's Bush?

Oh I forgot I could have gone to Oxegen when it was called something else (or am I getting mixed up?), I didn't go because it looked shit. I like my festivals to be crusty.darigan wrote:Electric Picnic is the job, I work at it as stage manager for the little Pod Stage in the 'body and soul area', I always end up crossed by the end of night its great. (That was the late 90s though, changed an awful lot in a decade in most places)
Used to live in Galway for 3 years in very Gaelic part - Connemara, little village called Furbo. It was a great place to live - Atlantic ocean view outside my window. Lots of girls and mental parties.
Who knows about "Boom Boom Punch"? It's a mix of Cider, Buckfast and Poitín (irish moonshine). This just to get you on the mood.
