Zomby never turning up?

Post by foundational » Thu Apr 16, 2009 4:27 pm

Luckily never gone to a night where he's on the bill, but heard a lot about this. It's a bit off really, ain't it!

Depends, on....

(a) whether there are recent examples of this, or whether the previous thread on this subject just started some exagerrated rumours. Not pretending to have the answer to that one, just being cynical.

(b) his reasons. Again, wouldn't be able to comment. But it seems like there might be a lot of reasons for such things. If he sat there thinking "nah fuck em" then that would be a real shame. But life's not normally that simple - perhaps he has psychological issues which can't be helped, or other commitments beyond his control.

Just my 2p's worth anyway, I'll shut up now!

Hope he doesn't pull out of Bangface. That would turn my dick from boner-to flacid in about 0.5 seconds.

Many people i know have told me about this happening at nights they've been to. Even FACT magazine has been saying it, http://www.factmagazine.co.uk/index.php ... &Itemid=87

Furthermore if theres some sort of recurring problem then perhaps he shouldn't accept bookings in the first place.

It just seems unfair on people who have paid money to see Zomby and then he doesn't turn up!

Also I didn't realize there was a previous thread on this, could you link me to it?

Ok, so I guess you guys have answered point a. But there's still point b.... :D

Here's the previous thread: http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=62482

*EDIT* If I'd read it a bit better last time I'd have done without my point a, lol!

There have been several events I attended in and around LA where the DJ's just never show up... they then post a little public statement saying that it was a result of the shady promoters not paying or something along those lines...

It could really be anything, highly unlikely that the DJ intentionally and consciously decides not to go for the sake of not going...

I'm sorry to have offended your dislike of FACT magazine but I was simply trying to show that even well regarded publications have taken note of the lack of Zomby, is that not fair enough?

There may well be valid reasons for the no-shows

But the two times I've been to events where he's been on the bill, he's not shown (FWD a while back and Kode9/Fly Lo a few weeks ago)

What does it matter though? He might not even be that great a DJ (I don't know either way) and plenty of DJs playing his fresher beats

it matters cause its disrespectful to

a. everyone who enjoys his music and shows up, paying cover, expecting to hear him

and

b. everyone putting in work on the grind, touring & playing shows...

dude has no showed to TWO nyc bills, at DOPE venues, with solid promoters... shows that other artists would LOVE to be on, and quite frankly i can think of alot of more talented people who deserve that shine.

its just a insult to me as a DJ & partygoer... the music is alright, but the vibe hes putting out is just wack... just dont take the gig if you aint gonna come through.

I highly doubt Zomby not playing at Trouble & Bass had anything to do with T&B as promoters.. never heard what happened but I know it's not the above situation at least not all the time

not my place to say details, but it was absolutely no fault of T&B whatsoever.

damn! that does really suck, considering he produces quality. guess he lives for the production of it, and no the performance of it. i know from first hand experience dont ever book a show, and not show! theres an unwritten book of shit not to do, and thats 1 of them, lol!
I cant get enough of this stuff..................

not pointing fingers, I don't even know what T&B is... Regardless, they may have gotten into some beef together for some reason, you never know these things

All I'm saying, is...

Thanks to Zomby bailing out, Brainfeeder NYC stings just a little less.

see this is exactly the problem.

not "you never know"... i DO know.. not my crew or booking tho so its not my place to speak on details... but yo, it does unfairly make the promoter look bad if the DJ no shows, when the fault completely rests on the DJ.
