I think one of my decks just died, HELP!

Post by jimitheexploder » Thu Apr 16, 2009 10:11 am

I've had my Numark TTX-1's for freakin years and years now with no trouble at all.

But just now one of them died on me. I was mixing, everything was fine, both decks on the go. One record was mixed out, I stopped the deck, pulled another record out the bag and went to cue it up by starting the thing goin and all the deck would do is rock back'n'forth in a gental fashion. fuckin nightmare!

Any advice about how / where I can get this fixed and how much it might cost from you good DJ types out there?

cheers people.

I dont think its the pitch shifter the platter wont go round at all now really.

I've tryed mucking about under the platter a bit but there really isnt anything there to touch.

I've contacted Numark to see if they have any ideas they haven't got back yet but they hopefuly will do sometime soon.

I'm not sure there is anywhere local that repairs decks, I doubt a regular electrician would have much of a clue about them to be honest.

I've had them for ages now, since the early 2000's sometime and this is the first problem I've had at all. So I gues they have done pretty well.

Heard about this several times. Everytime the motor was fucked.
No idea how expensive is a new one but probably too much to be worth it.

If you decide to buy a new deck and want to stick with Numark, I'd suggest to get a TT-500 instead, they're far cheaper, work exactly as TTXs without the screen and they're known to be more reliable.

It does seem like its the motor and I really doubt its worth it to replace that, it's gona cost about the same as a new freakin deck anyway them cos there old something else will fuck up on them.

Cheers for the tip on the TT-500 one of them would be just fine and the price looks alright too... I guess if I have to...

Nice one.

I had this and all that had happened was tiny piece of polystyrene had got caught in the latch that lets the deck move? the one that releases when you press start. So check that out mate!

I'm no expert but I can't see it snapping out of it and getting better anytime soon.

I heard from Numark and they just passed me on to another number in the company that I've not had chance to call yet. I'm gonna get on it next week, I can't be doin with one deck for long its well annoying. I'm trying to develop a new mixing style called The One Deck Hot Mix Skank.
