If it says 'XTRA BASS' in it and you want to use them for production, personally I'd run as far away from them as possible.

Yea definately steer clear of them for production.
For listening they might be alright, but for me the MDR-V700 have plenty of bass for listening, any more would be too much.

You can always simulate the effect of these sorts of things by putting a low shelf of about 8dB from about 250Hz down on your output
