Direct Recording in Cubase
Hey fellow dsfers,
I'm in a bit of a situation.
I want to direct record audio into cubase from my synths, but can't seem to figure out how.
Example:
I load battery with a drumkit. I want to play with my keyboard but instead of recording MIDI i want to record DIRECTLY to AUDIO...
Is this possible without connecting cables from out to in on my soundcard?
It should be possible in cubase, with making internal connections. But whatever i tried i cant find out how..
Please Help!
Thanx Higgz

Yeah i normally export to, but i like to be able to play my hits. I don't like having to use my mouse to place hits... Seems it isn't possible i think...fuzz_2k wrote:unsure if you can do that or not?! i used to record the midi pattern then when im happy with it, file-export-audiomix down. this can be done in cubase 4 and above but if you're using sx3 or below i think you'd have to do it through the sound card.
to do it in cubase 4 you need to create a group and send the synth to the group, you then create an audio track and set the input to the group you've just created. now arm the synth track (so it can recieve midi) and the audio track (so it will record) and hit the record button...job done.

that method works find however if you have a synth patch with lots of free running oscillators and such that it's constantly evolving, then each time you play it back it will sound different. also when you play it in you may be vibing with the sound as it changes, in this case the only way to capture it as it was played is to record it to audio as you do it.Hurtdeer wrote:if you want to record it in, you record it in as midi, inputting the notes with the midi controller you're using
if you want it to be an audio file, just convert it to one after you've recorded it
unless there's something i'm missing?

Also this is a really weird question, and not sure we are all getting you. Why would you need to record straight to audio?
Badmon a Badmon, Fool is a Fool
maybe he wants to save CPU or something I guess?
Whats wrong with recording to different midi channels , then exporting?
Or just use raw audio - thats what I do with Cubase, I find the audio editing is immense so I hardly bother with midi when it comes to drums & cubase.
