I definitely do.

Fuck all the people trying to be "cooler-than-thou" (not just in this forum, but everywhere) who say... "I never listen to any of my tracks once they are finished".

If you won't even listen to your tracks, how in the world do you expect anyone else to spend their time doing it?

I make tracks cos I make the music I want to hear. So of course, I will listen to my tracks!! I made them for myself. I created something I felt was missing. And I am proud of them enough to think other people should listen to them too-- but if not, its ok, cos I made them for myself anyway.

You're an idiot mate. Not everyone holds the same opinions you do.
I don't listen to my tracks on the regular after they're finished, (maybe once or twice to see what to improve). I make music for other people, not to stick on my iPod.
And most people who say this are not trying to be cool, it's just that their heads aren't stuck up their own arse. Who the hell listens to their own tunes without the fact that they made it sabotaging any listening pleasure they might get. Knowing where every sample came from, thinking what can be improved. etc.

Yep, same here. Especially if i'm really satisfied with the tune. I can listnen to it over and over and amaze myself  How did i do that?? hahaha

Nah, ego aside, it helps me learn from the mistakes i made for future productions :P

Ow and ^^^^ i kind of agree with mad ep about the i make music for myself first thing.. I do, cos it keeps me sane (really). Ofcourse i make it for other people to but in the first place it's my personal meditation 8)

It's ok, son... I checked out your tracks, and totally understand where you are coming from. If I made tracks like you, I would never come back and listen to them either.

Don't get me wrong... "Memories" is a nice little ditty, but would never hold its' own as a full track. The best it could ever hope for is a throwaway 1:30 'skit' in between tracks. In which case, it would indeed be one of the better 'skits' out there... but still a skit nonetheless.

If you can't listen to your own tracks without hearing massive rips & steals from other tracks and tortuous thoughts about how it can be improved... maybe you should refine your skills, son? Maybe put a little more effort into it before you 'bless' the masses, eh?

i saw this thread whilst i was goin thru my playlist on itunes of my own tunes....i prob listen 2 them about once a week to see how/if ive improved on the more recent productions. If u cant listen to ur own tunes does that mean ur bored of them? or just dont like them? im assuming the only reason ur sayin this is cos u wanna b different or summit

Trust me, I agree 100% all the tracks there are shite apart from Memories, which I am actually working on now using real drums and trying to develop into a full track whatever you might say. And your opinions are idiotic son. By saying that anyone who states an opinion different to yours can fuck off and stop trying to be cool.

And tbh mate your in the wrong here, sure I called you an idiot but you went that one step further by criticizing my music. And since your being a tnuc and have loaded opinions atm, i'll take that comment about Memories as a compliment. So thanks very much.

@ Beerz, it's because i've spent so long making them I know every new break that will come in, how the track evolves etc. And I never feel the vibe; just picture Logic and all the vsts/ drum tracks.

....and hold on Mad EP, post up some of your stuff before you slate mine. Because you might not like it but some people do. So it's just your opinion.
Because that memories track someone compared to AFX and Art of Noise... have you gotten any compliment as good as that? Or anyone said they loved one of your tracks? If not fuck off; i'm waiting for your smart arse remark...

Sorry MAN, (if that makes you feel better)...

...but if you are gonna call me an idiot and say that you are so awesome that you can't even listen to yourself... I am gonna expect some next level shit. Turns out, you are (at this point), just shit.

So as I said... I understand why you don't listen to yourself... and gave you the constructive advice that maybe before you start calling other people "idiots" you sharpen your swords and refine your craft. If you wanna battle, that's fine... but bring something to the table. Otherwise, maybe before you start spouting off at the mouth calling other people "idiots" you at least have some game to back up your shit. Otherwise, sit down and listen when good-natured people are trying to teach you something you can learn from.

I"m guilty of this. I seem to listen to my own tunes than other music these days cause I am in a totally horrible point where all my older tracks are great but are badly mixed but my new tunes are mixed a lot better but the ideas are simple and nothing like my old tunes, so trying to get the old state of mind back with the new mixing abilities .

I think a more interesting question is would you dance to your tune if it got dropped at a big night??

When did I say in this thread that i'm 'next level' & 'awsome?'

I said I didn't listen to my tracks because I know how they are made, and i've spent time making them so when I listen to them I don't hear a song; I hear a bunch of layers, FX & automation. Not once did I say I was good (which would be opinion anyway).

So why don't you fuck off and stop slating my tracks. I called you an idiot because you made a fucking stupid and ignorant comment by saying:

Fuck all the people trying to be "cooler-than-thou" (not just in this forum, but everywhere) who say... "I never listen to any of my tracks once they are finished."

Your head is stuck up your arse so far you cant fucking breathe mate, some people (like me a Djake actually fell this way about are music and are not doing it to be cool) SO where do you get off slating me and my beats?

Post up tunes please so I can critic since you think your on the next level.

I get off slating you & your tracks cos you called me an idiot.

There are plenty of people who have disagreed with me on this forum (and others), and it has been able to remain civil cos the arguments themselves remained impersonal.

But you wanted to step it up by personally calling me an idiot... so yes, I took 2 seconds to do a Google search, found your tracks and certainly found them a bit lacking..especially in terms of being able to call anyone an idiot.

Some people love my tracks, some people hate my tracks... some people pay me lots of money to come to their neighborhood to play my tracks.. and I am sure there people who would pay a decent amount of money to have me stay away from their neighborhood.

That's not the point.

The point is- I have always said from the beginning that I first & foremost make my music for myself, so the first & foremost person I need to satisfy is myself. I called bullshit on people who said they never listen to their own music (for whatever reason)... saying that if they can't be bothered to listen to their own music, why should anyone else be bothered? It still is a fair question to ask.

Then you come along and call me an idiot for raising such a question, and of course- if you are gonna call me out, I am gonna see what you have in your arsenal. If your tunes are whack, then I am gonna wonder why in the hell you are calling me out. Especially when you yourself admit your tracks are weak... What exactly is your beef?!

At this point, all I can tell is that you need to just spend some more time in lab and get your shit tight. I don't have anything personal against you- you're just a kid starting out. No problem, but don't spout off about other people who have been in the game for a long time being "idiots" when you don't even have your own shit together. Make a dope track, then you can call me whatever name you like. I will welcome it.

It's a general statement... not singling out anyone in particular (on this forum or others as I mentioned).

I still stand behind it... and have no problem going toe-to-toe with anyone who calls me an 'idiot' for saying so. However, if anyone does indeed want to call me an 'idiot'... (rather than saying they simply disagree), then fair dues... Let's just hope they actually make decent enough tracks to back up their statement.
