Is this the bloke who did that "Frequency" tune, thats a sick tune!

As for Snares, parson got it right, simply layer your snares, i got a few snares that i draw to when building a snappy snare, my presets so to speak  Then see what snares sound nice with 'em. If it needs to cut through the mix a bit more i usually hi-pass a snare and layer that so it snaps.

dats da rudeboy way of doin it

you dont only have to layer in other snare sounds, try anything snappy (I was gonna say the best thing to layer in but low dat) I try to get a little movement in da sound by layerin.
a bit of white noise is kool too

yes mr.Devonshire

i agree

i'm just sayin that to get the industrial sound he is after, laying in things besides traditional snares will make an original sounding snare, or hit, for dat matter. think outside the box.

not if the snare samples were no good in the first place, wasn't directing what I said at you in par-ticular, just at the general fact that everyone ignored the geezars main question about getting some decent samples.

Bout your original sample source. Good quality samples that are clean. Then its bout layering snares that compliment each other with punchy snares, pitching them in tune with each other, compress, eq etc etc bla bla bla

layering is key for sure, get a fat snare with loads of weight and then layer a snappy snare on top, but the snappy snare get that to start some way into the sample, so you dont get the initial attack of the snare just the high pitch snap tail, this should make the snare snap but not fuck the overall sound to much, is this making sense or have i had one too many 1664's, oft to bed, listening to photek mix or yester year, genius
eeeeee wot

snare a over snare b over snare c over perhaps white noise.

by fiddling the envelopes its possblie to make it sound like a uniform hit, compression removes any probs with the dynamics.

layering enables you to take the best aspects of a number of hits to make one thats more impressive.

prob best to do it in a wave editor and save a collection of layered hits to save on time.

btw mate, can't get that track to play. if you give us a d/l link i'll check it for sure.
