Filstered white noise on climax?

I allready searched for it on the section but didn't found anything that could help me.
The thing is, when i use that piiiiiiiiiiieeeeuuuuuuuww sound, (filtered white noise) everybody knows it, it always ends up sucky: somethimes it hurts ppls ears sometimes the filtering sounds cheap. I just can't manage to get a 'decent' 'non hurting' sound..

Can somebody give me some tips or explain me their methods?

i'd say there's a few things to consider: make sure there's enough body in it (i usually load some white noise into a sampler and play loads of high and low notes together).

the harshness is probably because you're using a filter with the resonance turned up. try automating it so that as the filter goes up, the resonance goes down a bit.

also, chuck a bit of reverb on there.

and try not to use it too much, as it's been fairly well rinsed over the years

i love it, bit of eq, reverb and delay. i dunno about it hurting though, just dont let the filter get high enough, frequency wise, to make it hurt.

resonance could indeed be the problem.
and using a better noise sample and fill it up seems like something i'm gonna try for sure.

And depone that white noise in your tune frogger is realy good. Not too much not too less. perfect!

oh yeah, that vocal. Doesn't Tocadisco has a song that goes like nobody like the records that i play a'ight. Isn't it the same vocal?

another way. kind of the same if 3dB/octave filters used

I started adding organ waves on top of mine and it gives it a bit of a tone

what I do is start with a low note, add a long portamento (glide) value, and then play the note about 3 octaves up, so not only do you get a Woosh-type of build-up, but you get a tonal noise behind it

this might help add more life when you add modulation or effects

What kind of filter are you using?

well....

since my pc is the most shittiest pc ever (but i love him) i don't want to waste too much cpu power on those 'small things like noise filtering and shit' (while i actually should).
So i just open up a 3xOSC, select the whitenoise-thingy and filter it with the filter in the sampler itself.....

I pretty much use that filter for all of my synths, samples.. everything..
that way i don't have to load up more pluginfilters causing less cpu-powah
