Ringo / Deep Medi / DMZ etc... digital releases?

Post by grind » Wed Apr 29, 2009 10:41 pm

These labels are now some of the remaining few that have yet to succomb to releasing on digital (yeah I know there's a few bits up on bleep.com, but not that much and nothing in a while).

Has anyone heard if/when these labels (and any others) will be available in digital formats? Or are they sticking to vinyl only for the foreseeable future...

Was posted somewhere recently that Mala said DMZ is a "record" label selling records, and that's what it'll be. I'll try and find the thread.

nah you're right, i just had a look and they're gone. they were on there around the time starkey's album came out, because i remember thinking it'd be cheaper and easier to buy them as flac and cut a dub.

Never I hope. I like the fact that real DJs have the tunes and play them out and I dont hear them getting rinsed by by wannabee superstars.

Everyone wants to be a DJ now days and too many people going the lazy route of downloading software and sticking tracks in an order on a computer, thats not DJing.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

"You are absolutely correct they have been taken down under request from
the label.

This is hopefully a temporary thing whilst DMZ re-evaluate their digital
strategy.

Please check back in a week or so.

-- well there ya go, guess it will just push people into non legit methods of aquiring the stuff... I'll just spend the dough elsewhere..

nevermind less revenue for them I guess, before you know it you will have to have a DJ licence number before you can aquire 12" dubs.. :)

I have no interest in being a dj.. nor really see a reason to keep these exclusive.

Dunno, I find it more about the tunes then the DJ's so called superstars or wannabee's status (real DJ, definition?) don't really care provided they are tasty beats, heard some lovely sets from pretty unknown people, some digital and exclusive..

I am a family man so most of my listening is done at home, get the sounds out to the people that is why people create the stuff after all :)

(I buy 12" & digital -Just not DMZ digital any more :))

thanks for looking into this. At least there is some hope they may come back online,
would be a shame if they didnt though. I dont dj but I do like to listen to great music and reward those who make it.

Maybe it means that they're gonna come back on every digital store in existence with all of their releases.

Everyone always wanted to be a DJ and before digital music there was just as many if not more wackass DJs thoughtlessly buying/playing only the biggest vinyl releases of the week... That shit aint gonna change. Music is what matters most, the format doesn't mean shit.

I own 90% of the catalogues of the labels mentioned and I continue to buy them on vinyl as they come out, but it would be nice to be able to back them up with high-quality digital files (as I have done with most of my other beats).. that's all.

For the record (no pun intended,) "record" means recording. It does not mean vinyl disc.

talknig about this with a mate - kinda sucks when DJ's who play digital dont put out digital.

for example

kosheen - guilty (plastician remix)
Truth - Fatman (although i suppose that cos it's on deep medi)
