mate you're crazy if you don't think there are any books on music. check your local library or waterstones. The warp records book immediately springs to mind also.

My faves are probably out of Scuba, Untold or Ramadanman.

That being said, the biggest and best ever... as in someone who has been there from the beginning and pushed the sound liked from day 1? It'd have to be Darqwan/Oris Jay or Loefah. As for pure technical brilliance and mind blowing skills I'd say Boxcutter.

But the person who really grabbed me and made me enjoy dubstep was Scuba and Hot Flush... my idol.

My favourite is actually Burial, just because he adds real emotion, real expression to his music and not just cool sounds, even though theyre not really tunes that get the dance floors moving but I wouldn't say hes the best producer.

The best is probably Skream just he continues to drop diverse tunes which define dubstep even more and he has been doing what he does for a long time.

there's a huge number of immensely talented musicians in the scene--the power of dubstep really does lie in its diversity.

TRG and D1 both deserve BIG mentions. Ramadanman, Rustie, Joker, Jamie and Roly vex'd, Silkie, Starkey-- some really next-level work being done these days.

Mala's productions changed a lot of people's lives.

and i'm amazed that coki hasn't been mentioned by name yet-- i'm not exactly a huge fan of the post-spongebob world of dubstep but man is a vibes machine.

While I do agree considering the diversity and quality of his early output, he is doing the scene no favours by djing absolute shite midrange cack these days......

absolutely massive producer...

on the dark vibe i'd go for Quantum Soul....his shit is so dubby and deep...

for heavyness i think Riskotheque get's my vote...

his ep on audio freaks w/ "just you" and "dream state" is a killer

these two guys because not only are their tunes pretty original, their production and mix quality is top notch
