mainstream pop is always getting ideas from underground dance music. i wouldn't worry about it.

big deal?
mainstream or not, i doubt it will effect your life in anyway,,, if anything it could give you more of a common ground with more people,....
Underground doesnt equal better,, some of the(imo) most tightest production, freshest composition, and top skilled entertainers are "mainstream", chart music isn't bad music. So, you wont be part of a niche, you're elitest strut may have to be put to rest. Alot of dance(as an umbrella term for all electronic music) music artist have come into the "MTV media", this last year
justice {thx kanye}, Switch, Diplo, Burial, , MIA for example this side of the earth(in the underground and otherwise) didnt even know about her debut album, piracy funds terrorism or that shes also an accomplished designer. Baltimore Club on MTV2, Kode9 on a major motion picture soundtrack.
.....& thats the short list,,
The way the music industry is going , except this trend to progress, I personally feel it's for the better, & i am sure more people being exposed this stuff doesnt cause the poeple producing it to loose sleep at night...

yeah it is well known that mainstream music borrows alot from underground sounds that are on to something e.g hip hop...
Look whats happened there it has been literally raped all over, ppl forget about the real rappers and hip hop producers like the east flatbush project.
I wouldnt mind if dubstep became mainstream and cheesy. As long as there were still nights that stayed true to what dubsteps about and if sick producers like mala werent forgotten or sort of pushed out the main scene while everyones caught up in a commercial hyped frenzy

Either good news or not news at all in my opinion.
Elvis and The Rolling Stones borrowed ideas from the Blues and got teenagers listening to John Lee Hooker and Howling Wolf.
Blondie recorded 'Rapture' and turned a load of people onto Hip Hop.
In the 90s every shit newly signed band going had to have an Aphex Twin remix. The net result? More exposure for underground electronic music.
If commercial rap producers are now admitting to taking ideas from dubstep where do you think their more curious fans are going to go next?

wow... i dont listen to dubstep because its "alternative" or "cool" as you put it... i listen to dubstep because i like the music. why am i a close minded idiot? i dont like lil jons music in any way, and if he begun making dubstep, i'm quite sure i wouldnt like that either. Snoop doggs take on dubstep wasnt worth listening to if you ask me, and i really dont think lil jons attempt would be any better... I just predict that the sound of "crunkstep" spiced with "yeah"'s and bling bling attitude, really wouldnt be my cup of tea... elitist? i really dont think so... talking about elitism.. pretty much every one in here hates pendulum, for "raping the dnb scene" and so on, and thats not elitism then?DID wrote:mate you are a close minded idiot. stop listening to dubstep because its 'alternative' and 'cool' and listen cus you fucking like itRynke wrote:can any one please tell me this is not true? ... lil jon? thats seriously hitting the fucking bottom line if you ask me...

I posted this in another thread...
"It's quite easy to say "Pleaaase don't make dubstep mainstream", when your mummy cooks you every day, and give you pocket money, buys you a computer so you can became a biiiig underground producer with no real life problems in your cutie tidy little room with bears and posters on the walls...
Grow up already, If this makes some producer able to pay rents and bills, and have a good life out of music not rotting in some small office for half of his life... that's great!!!
The music will not go worse because of that... So you make a shitty tune that will go mainstream, earn your money and do 10 tunes that you enjoy, in peace...
