Celebrity Dubstep Love
Celebrity Dubstep Love
OK here's the story. A mate of mine works in a highstreet record shop on oxford street. Today he was asked by another member of staff to help a customer: "This guys after an album by The Warrior Dubs? I can’t seem to find it?...’"
He replied: "There is a comp. out next week, by Mary Ann-Hobbs called
‘Warrior Dubz’ …….
the customer replied:
"Yeah that’s it, I’ll pop in next week then’. said the customer; with a familiar sounding voice.
He then turned round to see non other than the extremely tall Chris Morris standing there sporting a rather dodgy perm.
Obviously the Morris / Breezeblock connection goes back a long way but it's good to hear Morris has very good taste!

i think he did some of the music for Brass-Eye himself.
like the bit that ppl on "cake" listen to. (demonstrated on a boombox)
and (Blue) Jam was really nicely soundtracked, i thought.
quite often more the usage than the actual music, tho.
warp released the "best of" that show, as well as much of the tunage.
dude needs to put something new out, it's been too long.
or has there been something since Barley?
i'd like a good strong hit of his sickness.

cant show nuff love to morris, mans a genius! if some of u guys have only seen his tv work (day today/jam/brasseye/nathan barley), i deaaaaaarly recommend you to grab his radio work off this site (GREAT listening for when you're at work!) - http://www.cookdandbombd.co.uk - they got torrents of the radioshows... I especially recommend Blue Jam and On The Hour
btw those Breezeblock Sets he done are there aswell,

Chris Morris performed a guest DJ slot on the unpredictable late-night radio show fronted by Mary-Ann Hobbs, which had often preceded broadcasts of "Blue Jam". His choice of tracks was a rockier and faster-paced selection than the usual "Blue Jam" selections (including the single version of ‘Bad Sex’), sprinkled with mystery speech samples, and incorporating previously unheard interviews with American ‘television crusader’ Michael Moore and novelist Brett Easton-Ellis. A third Breezeblock session was scheduled for 02/07/2001, but was cancelled due to last-minute problems with the "Brass Eye" special. [Mary Anne-Hobbs tried to get Morris back after the BES, but he apparently said he had to think carefully about what his next public outing would be after the BES furore - Neil]

And yeah, I saw him filming Nathan Barley - he is VERY tall and he does have a VERY dodgy perm.
Still... shopping at a high street record store? How very mainstream of him.
Bass Eye is the only local news show you will ever have to watch in your entire lifetime.
I think it's odd that the American equivalent (The Daily Show) hasnt paid any respects to Mr. Morris. I swear the whole template for the show and its spinoffs are his...
You would think mans could get a promo copy of Warrior Dubz?

Shut up. GET OFF THE THREAD IF YOU DON'T WHAT IT'S ABOUT.Marsyas wrote:who is chris morris?
He's a very good satirist. His hayday was the mid 90's. He started on radio at llwr or something. He went on to do The day today and Brass Eye. He then went on to do Blue jam for the radio and a tv version called jam.
Nathen Barly was a colaboration with Charly Brooker. It wasn't very good. He done a few articals under different names. And loads of other stuff. He was going to do a musical called Sutcliff the musical(after the sex attacker and killer Peter Sutcliff) but that never happened. Shame
And i do know he likes his coffee beans ground to dust.
