DJ with Live 8

Post by abZ » Thu May 07, 2009 3:47 pm

Alright I am not actually djing with it but rather making mixes. I want to install Live 7 again! Can someone say something about 8 to make me change my mind? Why did they have to mess with a good thing?!?!?

You aren't helping here. Will be using 8 for production regardless. I am talking about have 7 loaded for making mixes. Can't wrap my head around the new warping system. I mean I got it to work it just isn't as accurate unless I am missing something...

My mate warps in 7 and plays in 8 :)

You can aways go that route :)

Well that is kind of pointless for me because I don't use it for live. I dj on decks thankyou. But I like making mixes on it sometimes.

I need to spend more time w/ it - haven't warped anything yet.

I found the old (7, and older) way of warping unintuitive so I pray I like the new way.

The general consensus is the new way is weird at first but better and faster once you get your head around it.

I found the old way very intuitive but I hope you are right in that once you get going you will be better off.

A lot of people feel the way you do - there are a few threads about it on the Ableton board. What I wrote seems to be the general response.

Personally, the warping in 7 is pissing me off.

Like it warps the first, let's say six markers, and leaves the rest. It can yield interesting results but fuck that.

It wasn't like that in the beginning.

I am still having a heck of a time with the new warping system. Seriously tempted to get Live 7 going again. Trying to be a trooper though.

Use the shift key to move markers the same way it worked in 7. The shift and control keys are essential to get the hang of this.
