a few of my favourites off the top of my head before I go to sleep:
Metalheads - Terminator
Renegade - Terrorist
Sound Of The Future - The Lighter
DJ Zinc - Super Sharp Shooter
Congo Natty - Champion DJ
Subnation - Scottie
Omni Trio - Renegade Snares
Nasty Habits - Here Comes The Drumz
Q Project - Champion Sound
Photek - Resolution
Ray Keith - Dubplate
Krome & Time - The Licence
Engineers Without Fears - Spiritual Aura
Peshay - Piano Tune
Goldie - Kemistry
DJ Hype - Roll The Beats
Cutty Ranks - Limb By Limb (DJ SS Remix)
Origin Unknown - Valley Of The Shadows
Nicky Blackmarket - Geese Toon
Deep Blue - Helicopter Tune
there's hundreds more, and I've got most of them.
Most if not all of this stuff is from 1993-1995... not many tunes after 1995 did much for me, and by 1997, it was as good as dead as far as I was concerned - it was all about Garage from 1996 onwards anyway.

some of the more recent stuff (well, like a year or so old, i got out of dnb a while back) isn't bad, but it's different that old school stuff and it defines a different time of dnb
photek - baltimore
london elektricity - billion dollar gravy
high contrast - return of forever
alias - can i/van cleef
basic operations - caulker sunrise
young ax - something wonderful/listen up
shy fx and t power - everything (ill lofic and raff remix)

If you're after vinyl, Suburban Base released a comp of classics the other year, but doubt it's still floating around now.
DJ Hype (feat. MC GQ) - Roll The Beats (Inject The Bass Mix)
Droppin' Science - Volume 1
Boogie Times Tribe - The Dark Stranger (Origin Unknown Remix)
Johnny Jungle - Johnny
DJ Rap & Aston - Jeopardy (Desired State Remix)
D'Cruze - Watch Out
Pure - Anything Test (DJ Zinc Exclusive Mix)
The Dream Team - Warriors
DJ Dextrous & Rude Boy Keith (feat. H-Pee) - Time To Move
Droppin' Science - Firin' Line
Cutty Ranks - Limb By Limb (DJ SS Remix)
Remarc - R.I.P. (DJ Hype Remix)
Should be as good a representation of mid-90's jungle as you can get. Might still be cd's floating around. And Remarc's Sound Murderer should be snapped up if you can find it, contained quite a lot of his best singles.

very true, i got some pushed in my hands last year checking a record shop and just because of the quality you don't have to think about classics off different jungle labels being pressed on shady whites, with the soundquality they might aswell have added that it are bootlegs on the labels themselves (although i must say some of them have rather classy labels on them)
Yeah, picked up one of these - I now have one of the most off-center, painful to listen to pressings of Lighter ever.Pablex wrote:these are bootlegs pressed without the artists permissions, seen wrote:

just so you know if anyone's planning on buying them
Mind you I think it did give the original labels the push to do the re-releases such as Sub Base and Moving Shadow, so not all bad.
Hmm....

not trying to spam or something, i just had to re-upload my set for someone so i'm posting it here aswell.
don't expect very tight mixes or to not hear small corrections, do expect some good music which i think doesn't get played enough.

some mistakes here and there that i'm aware of but it doesn't feel too bad, although the set isn't that long because of some small problem

The original 'Here Come the Drums' by Nasty Habits (Doc Scott). On 'As Nasty as I Wanna Be' EP if you're lucky enough to find it. Early proto jungle.
That was a bad assed track - about 14 years old now.

Yeah, that tune's relentless. Got this one on Dark Side Hardcore Drum and Bass - some good tracks on that and (dons tweed and pipe) a fascinating document of the period where hardcore was ending and jungle was born.KION wrote:The original 'Here Come the Drums' by Nasty Habits (Doc Scott).
