Ableton issue...could Massive be the cause?
I recently purchased Massive and installed in on Ableton Live 7. Everything in Live was running fine for a couple of days and then even without Massive being used I am getting CPU spikes. It's not really all that excessive, it will jump from 20% to around 50%. But it does this fairly often and slightly glitches the playback when it happens.
I should probably ask this on the Ableton forum, but I wasn't sure if any of you had a similar problem after installing Massive? Like I said I won't even use Massive and get these spikes, whether thats just having a simple drum rack open or any other sound.
Used Live 7 for a full year with this never happening.

MASSIVE is a CPU whore.. I tried to run MASSIVE on my G4 with a gig a of ram and it was not having.. I would only recommend Massive if you have the dual core or better.. Other wise you freeze the track after you make the midi and bounce everything to audio..Richard Sweat wrote:I recently purchased Massive and installed in on Ableton Live 7. Right, but like I said the spikes now happen when I'm not even using Massive. My computer is dual core with 4 gigs of ram, so my computer itself spec wise isn't the issue.notch wrote: MASSIVE is a CPU whore.. "Take the massive vst out of your plugins folder and see if you still get the spikes."
Noted! Will try this when I get off work! Just wanted to see if anyone else had a similar issue.
I appreciate the input fellas!

Yeah your pc sounds like its up to the job. My old duel core with 2gig ram definitely wasnt. Recently brought an i7 machine with 6gig ram, and can run ableton & massive amazingly.
Try fiddling with your audio settings. Ive got my output buffer size @ 704 samples. I/O sample rate @ 44100
Works wicked for me, hope this helps
