can anyone recommend any good really distorted / harsher dubstep along the lines of vexd and the best of the dmz stuff

You should really check out tracks by DJ Distance bro, more heavier/distorted Dubstep bizniz!

Skinnz - Corner is a sick tune... If your feeling the Vex'd stuff check that..

Out on Destructive 'Our Sound' EP - which also has some other dirrrty tracks..
