I think the mods need to sum up all of the "dubstep rules / dubstep is wack" threads into one huge super hyper omni global mega 48 page thread, like they did with the "how do I make wobbles" and such. That way all the kids who want to argue about it can have one link to click on, and the rest of us can ignore it and keep listening to / making music.

It's a win-win situation, no?

As someone said, the people today who're making generic wobblers may be the ones to start off the next movement. I bet there are bare big producers now that started off making shitty garage or jungle beats. It's how people learn. I don't know if this is relevant cus i didn't read the rest of the thread.

Also, people saying all releases are shit now, i'd say there are more good releases coming out now, just with a load of shit aswell. Back in the day there weren't that many releases cus it wasn't popular enough but i bet proportionally there was the same amount of shit about.

YEAH BUT THE PEOPLE MAKING SHITTY GARAGE OR JUNGLE BEATS WEREN'T RELEASING THEM!!! And if these ghey sci-fi / scary / bait sample premature releases spark off a new movement, its a par. Why? Because all anyone with any critical side is gonna do is look at their back catalog of 1,000,000 bait tunes and be like "how can I put my faith in this movement". But there won't be a movement anyway cause the next movement would require some sort of progression/originality which is coming - like someone said - from the Techno side of things. That movements already underway tbh.

this thread reminds me of grime forum a year ago

i think the issue with alot of the new stuff coming out is it has no soul and dubs being brought out by established and respected dubstep artists is them trying as hard as possible to be different from the ruskos and caspas and it isnt natural.

I think there are a plethora of brilliant tunes out there right now from all angles, I love the agressive aggy mental Coki/Skream metal stuff, I love 2562 & Appleblim, I love Joker, Zomby & Rustie and their bleepd out crazyness, but anyone saying that 2004/05/06 wasnt the best era for tunes is mental, if it wasnt for that era then we wouldnt have all the new influx of producers we have now. I listened to Dubstep Warz for the millionth time the other day, and I could still feel the goosebumps I had back in those times, when everything popping up felt so fresh and exciting, I will never moan about the state of Dubstep because everything changes and evolves and I still get excited all the time now, with the amount of stuff out there now your always bound to be missing great stuff, so if I havent found a great tune for a while, I just look harder.

I think it's difficult to argue against that being the most important era for the dubstep scene but I don't believe there are less good tracks coming out today.

yeh man this, bring back the old days. Thee is alot of good stuff these days but 04/05 was sick. The First Dub Police release from L-wiz back in 2005 was and still is 1 of my fav records all 3 tunes are sick. Now if i put up any of the above 3tunes next to say Rusko/Bed Bugs or whateva its called or any of the other mid range wobble tunes its like hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Big wobbles like skream chestBoxing, Benga26 Basslines, Candyfloss Loefah Remix, Luke Envoy Honour Kill please walk this way, other mid range bolloxs please turn left go to the top of the building and jump off. Its is all about Quest, Silkie, Heny and all the Anti Social Lot now days in my opinion. Allways achieving high standards.

I'd agree that its certainly getting more diverse!

I've been DJing/listening to Drum & Bass for the past 11 years, and wasn't totally hooked when I first heard dubstep, but now have gradually warmed to it, to the point I'm now playing it out (as a sideline to my D&B of course).

Theres some amazing tunes out there now, and hopefully will only get better! 8)

i think the tunes out today are a stark contrast on the scene that once evolved but didn't. 2003 -2003 - 2003 /02 had the best sound for the homeboys repping it for croydon, luckily pinch had a lot to say when he moved to kent and got influenced by african drumming when he followed his dad along to a drumming class with mugumbo the local drum guy that busks in town, basicly i disagree with what im saying but fuck you thanks

as the scene expands you get more good stuff and more shit stuff. same with any music genre / movement / whatever you want to call it. just make tunes - if people dig them, all good 8)

stop debating it and fire up ableton / fl studio / cubase

simple answer is - there's just MORE now

more than 02, more than 07

scene is already SO much bigger - and there are a LOT of mediocre tracks out there -

expect it
