No, he can't.

But he will have come closer than most producers have in a long time.

I think Parson could save the music industry if he would just put out some more stuff.

Yeah?! I branded it unlistenable after a handful of play thrus. Maybe i should give it another try. But yeah looking at the credits is joke, there's so many, and in so many countries with so many producers, engineers etc.

Homogenic is defo one of my fav albums.

Anyhoo, Rick Rubin, good article, but can anyone who carries on like that really sort anything out? All these assistants and buddahs and we need a new building, bring me a choco drink stuff seemed too much like bloated insane star stuff too me. Love his production tho.

Rick Rubin forever gets a pass for relaunching Johnny Cash's career without turning him into utter shit.

The man's a fucking legend and he's got an AWESOME beard.

Has anyone ever seen the documentary on the making of the Black Album? Watching Rick Rubin and Jay-Z in the same room is pure brilliance.

You gotta remember that Kid Rocks, Linkin Parks, and Slipknots of the world have enormous fanbases, despite what we may think of them as artists. And that's in no small part due to Rubin looking at that vast pool of talent out there and seeing what will work.
truth . Also ... lets not forget that Mars Volta Deloused In The Comatorium is on that list . Its only one of the most badass albums ever imho .
Was just about to say that... One of the best/weirdest/most amazing album's i've had the pleasure of listening to in my whole life. The soundscape and experimental side of the album is brilliant.

nice reading

but what i read there is rubin was actually defeated by industry's malpractice before and now he teamed up with the guy who once fucked him up, since the former head of columbia is now sharing his position with rubin.
so i think the guy is in just for a decent buck without swallowing too much
"The CD debuted at No. 4," Rubin told me at Hugo's, still sounding upset. "It was the highest debut of Neil's career, off to a great start. But Columbia — it was some kind of corporate thing — had put spyware on the CD. That kept people from copying it, but it also somehow recorded information about whoever bought the record. The spyware became public knowledge, and people freaked out. There were some lawsuits filed, and the CD was recalled by Columbia. Literally pulled from stores. We came out on a Tuesday, by the following week the CD was not available. Columbia released it again in a month, but we never recovered. Neil was furious, and I vowed never to make another album with Columbia."

i really enjoyed this article. rick ruben has always been off on a different tip. i do not think he alone can save the music industry but at least he is taking the bull by the horns...i think rick rueben and the guy who wrote the article probably think he can do it single handedly but there will have to be alot more people in higher places with his mentality. my.02. thanx for posting this

I mean out of the entire list. Majority of mainstream music is the same old repetitive unfresh ideas. This guy is releasing that kind of material. Really if the attempt of revitalizing the industry includes releasing this type of music, its not going to go anywhere no matter how much you have under your belt. its not how many artists you have in your portfolio.

The mainstream isnt really used to new ideas. Thats the next problem.

Eubin produced the last Weezer album? That one was a surefire stinker, but we all know it's not his fault, Weezer has been retarded for some years now.
