Big up Chase & Status, the amount Radio 1 was backing them lately it was in the pipeline, now who else had a lot of air time recently....

Back on topic these guys have been doing this as a profession for years now, please seek out the recent ATM interview and you will get an insight as to the world and studios these guys operated in before the Mercury deal..

I reviewed there last single I enjoyed it, I was buzzing to hear it on national radio to hear RAM records getting big props (it was Sub Focus though who bought the first wave of mainstream attention to RAM). C & S just got to big for an indie, fair fuckin play.

i'd rather have chase & status on mainstream tv/radio then britney spears and all

if you don't like c&s it's not going to make a difference, if you do like c&s then it's going to be an interesting ride

the implications this move has for dubstep and dnb are......fuck all - stop complaining and just be happy that a production duo from a genre(s) that you like are making some money, maybe some of that will trickle down and we'll have dubstep nights with crystal glasses or something

dunno if youre saying this as a wind up or actually stupid enough to believe it, but no he doesnt. all you have to do is go and watch him at a night where you can get up close, for about 10 seconds to see that this is clearly not true. anyway he plays his sets fast, more like high 170s bpm-wise.

this ^^

last year i was stood behind him for a festival set and watched with interest cos i'd heard the rumours too. either everything was at different tempos or the decks were fucked because he was using the pitch faders plenty!

Andy C definitely gets his dubplates all cut at the same speed, how else could somebody possibly match two records together without them going at two different speeds?

Yeah, he could use the pitch controls THEORETICALLY but how could he POSSIBLY do it that quickly? He'd have to practice all the time for years and years and years!

UHHH I DON'T THINK SO!

That's because he's so devious he gets one or two tunes cut so they drift slightly up and down for a few seconds, fooling everyone into thinking that he's really doing something!

Chase & Status are an interesting topic.

They don't seem to have their own sound. Pendulum had a sound, you knew a Pendulum tune the minute you heard it, no matter if you liked it or not. Chase & Status seem to be able to release a fashionable anthem literally just at the right time, every time.

The thing I can't seem to get past with Chase & Status is the transparency of their tunes. Each tune seems to be built around a particular synth, vocal or hook and nothing much else is there. The tunes have barely any depth to them and you can tell the exact purpose behind each tune. I try and stop myself by saying "shut the fuck up, they just make excellent dance music, no need to waste so much mental energy thinking about it" but it ****** me. Even with Pendulum there was a bit more depth to each tune, more things to listen to. Chase & Status tunes just seem weird, no identity, they just sort of exist lol.

I like to think of music as mysterious and magical. Chase & Status tunes generally have none of that, they are pasted onto a massive big wall for everyone to see. That said I really do like and appreciate their tunes, the old cliche "it goes off in the dance" could never be truer with these guys. Their tunes do fucking go off. Its just not stuff I listen to more than once at home because there just isnt enough to listen to.

I wonder how they will be applied to a commercial market now. I'd imagine its going to be a lot of collabs with vocalists, the guys on their own aren't really marketable enough. I'm interested to see what direction they take.

Anyway, lol, hello dubstepforum, my name is Terpsichore.

it's been a joy to witness this forum gradually deteriorate thanks to all the haters and bedroom shit talkers who love to take cheap shots at people who've actually accomplished something. thanks for making dubstepforum a little more irrelevant with each passing day. :(

It's an amazingly regular occurrence on music forums. Bitter, wannabee producers (with day jobs they despise) hating on pro producers/DJ's who actually make a living from music. I respect anyone who makes a living from playing or producing music no matter what style, commercial or underground. Yep even happy hardcore producers/DJ's.
