New to dubstep :)

Post by vidzak » Sat May 23, 2009 12:41 am

Ey up! I am new to doing this, this is my first proper crack at making some dubstep. I normally produce psytrance so its a bit of a learning curve. Would really appreciate any feedback on this tune, both production-wise and stuff that could be improved about the actual tune.

Cheers!

gurnface- good intro synth :) the tune sounds like it could do with some more "general stuff" in it though. Maybe some atmospheric sounds or a second synth line. Maybe a bit more percussion to make it drive a bit? To say you have only been producing for that long its a great effort tho :)

Miek CBA- noise grenades.
I dont really have much to say about the actual tune cos it sounds pretty spot on to my ears Wink The production is great aswel, good percussion. Are you using ableton?

@ Tripwire22: Very nice sounds, and pretty good mastering. Nice melodies and vibes. Realy feeling most of the tracks. Although I think your tracks need a bit more crunchyness, a sparkle of fire if you know what i mean. And try to listen to released tracks to learn to make better and more interesting buildups. Good production mate. Keep it up!

@ jinxkal: Wicked trippyass style man I like it. Maybe more accent on the hats because i can't realy feel the drive or is that on purpose? But realy nice production anyways. :)

Here's one I made today. I'm quite happy with the production level. It's way better then my previous tracks.

I liked this. at first i wasn't into the drum sounds, but i started getting into it when they dropped for a bit and came back in. I was expecting the bass to be a bit more rah!!l at this point, too. but it was steady the whole way.

Liking how you've layered the sounds -- started to really get into little bits, but the structure, specifically the swicthes between sections, made it loose a bit of mometum

Hey man, there are some pretty nice ideas in there but to me it sounds too cluttered and messy. Have you done any EQing to this tune?
