Grime is full of miserable wastemen and frustrsted young men in my opinion who's fan base consists mainly of kids listening to music on mobile phones. which is all good in one aspect but the overall quality is below average in prouction the quality isn't the same a scream, vex'd, Loefah, Mystikz etc. And no where near the like of there america hip hop idols. I think that has heaps to do with why no one is being signed too.
what the dubstep scene seems to have is unity. dmz on saturday for me showed this. no one was watching who was there... people were there for music and good vibes. whilst grime seems to be built on war. So the youngers coming up and going to the raves are moody with no vibes because everyone is watching the man standing next to them. I don't understand it. Rinsesession at ministry was terrible in the grime room and that is what i have based my comparisons on. You can only war for so long before you get taken out by the bigger man you didn't know about round the corner.

And to what sheriff said about the grime room at rinse sessions i didnt think the atmosphere in the main room was bad although the vibes were nothing like as positive as those at dmz........................

It's pretty much enevitable that the majors will get involved at some point soon but that doesn't mean dubstep is thus worthless. Even if Skream, Rusko or whatever other artist recognised by the mainstream (and i'm not saying they will) decide to sign to a major, there will still be a massive underground crop running concurrently, innovating and taking the scene forward. Take D&B as an example, Pendulum signed to a major and the mainstream do think that they are D&B but they don't even appear on the radars of anyone in that scene anymore. What I meant in my earlier post is that the 2006 scene didn't care about the money.

Major labels will not take the risk until they know there is huge money to be made developing an artist that makes this style of music. There are other styles of electronic music that are much older and make tons more money than dubstep, and the majors haven't even batted an eye at them as of yet. Sure there are one or two acts that get signed, but DIY music is not something the big labeles can control as much as they would want to.
