Starkey Wobble Gutter Music
Anyone know what programs he uses or where to begin designing some of the wobbles in that song?
Seriously tho, as irrevelant as it may sound, I actually believe the most relevant answers to this kind of questions are contained in that thread :
* it's not the tool...
* make your own sounds
* midrange cack
* that probably is the brutal electro patch (in Massive)
If you don't mean to just copy Starkey's sounds but rather learn from how they're made then it's probably fair tho I believe you'd learn much more from trying to achieve it by yourself rather than getting told how to...
So I recommend you to learn about waveforms (why a saw sounds like a saw, etc), harmonics and subtractive synthesis for a starter. It's a long road but then answers to this kind of question will pop up in your mind.
Anyway, this thread might as well be mere trolling and I got fooled by the fact it was about Starkey and not Skream, Caspa or Rusko

I do build my own bass sounds and I know all about waveforms. I know a good deal about synthesis I am no master. And before you can become a master you must learn the ways of the masters, which is true in every art form. I mostly wanted to know what synths the man used. Since i am getting bored with albino, massive, etc. I am trying to dive deep into Reaktor but it is complex program and I need to learn a lot more before I can effectively use it without using the built instruments.

I actually really like the synth in that song and would be curious if someone more knowledgeable about synthesis than I knew how to put together a sound like that.
FOR THE RECORD:
I think this is a legit question that deserves answering. Threads like this are very helpful for those of us who aren't synthesis masters because at the very least they can point us in the right direction of how to create interesting sounds, and at the best can give us the tools to reverse engineer a sound.
I am all for posting jokes and such in the lame threads that pop up over and over and do so frequently, but lets not be stnuc in every single thread.

not sure how i came across this thread because i never go on this section of the site...... but i'll answer.
"Gutter Music" was made with Logic and Reason re-wired. If I remember correctly, the main bassline (which i think is what you're asking about) was made with multiple instances of the Subtractor. I'm all about layering multiple instances of the same Midi information to bring out certain frequencies or tones.

i've never used massive. heard good things though.hurlingdervish wrote:massive could reproduce ANY synth sound you have heard. if you got bored with that synth maybe you should stop making electronic music
i'm really not that into stockpiling soft synths though like some people. I'd rather spend a lot of time learning how to really use a few things than have too many options to choose from.
