You might be able to find work teaching English. Look into the JET Program: http://www.jetprogramme.org/e/index.html I think where they place you is at their discretion though, so don't get your hopes set on Tokyo if you're accepted. They also stipulate that you need to have some command of the Japanese language to function in an office environment when you're not teaching, so it's in your best interest to learn it. I can't imagine moving to a foreign country and not speaking the language there, frankly!

And give this page a read as well: http://www.letsjapan.org/

Edit: I see Sinc Vision beat me to it while I was replying. :)

Great thanks DJ Sinc Vision & Little Boh Peep... your replies made me both excited and positive thinking, and worried and sad.. haha.. if that makes any sense... I think I should try start learning Japanese while I'm doing my civil service... somehow... maybe theres some free courses (Finland is pretty damn good for free education!)... I would totally love to experience and live the proper way when moving there (like when moving to London speaking their language obviously and being able to be on the same level with them if u see what i mean)

Glad to hear its not as expensive as London.. and I'm used to living in crap areas/flats/conditions.. being poor/student/civil servant(no pay, but full time work) teaches u alot lol...

I've got a degree from an English Uni (Bachelor of Arts in Film&TV, Single hons)... do u think thats worth anything when trying to get into teaching english in Japan?

Damn this makes me wanna go even more!! Been watching lotsa Japanese cinema (MIZOGUCHI IS THE FUCKING DADDY!!!) recently again... so cravings growing all the time... dang!

Also thanks for the links Little Boh, very kind of u!! :c:

I played in Tokyo back in December 2004

I had the deepest time there!

4 days of complete experience

I totally immersed myself in the place - can't wait to go back there

Couldn`t agree with you more. You get so much more out of a country by speaking the language. I strongly recommend you get cracking with Japanese if you plan to come, including the reading/writing...hell, if you learn the basic reading/writing side of things first it helps with your pronunciation.

To be honest they don`t mind what degree you have, as long as your english is well up to scratch. Plus if you learnt english as a second language your understanding of grammar will be a whole lot better than a native englishman.

What sort of things were you feeling about it in particular? I love it here as well, so i`m always interested to hear what it is about the place that gives people a kick.

two things that stick in the memory

1. Walking through the hustle and bustle of one of the busiest cities imaginable, straight into the serenity of a beautiful temple. It was a real life changing experience - kinda put life into perspective for me and made me realise how greatful I am that people actually pay me to do what I do.

2. Not being able to adjust to the time difference - waking up at 4am Tokyo time and just wandering into Shinjuku centre into the deepest 24 hour internet cafe. The place was like a library - you had access to thousands of DVD's and pretty much every Playstation 2 game ever made. Paid a flat fee the equivalent of about £4 for 2 hours and you had your own booth with internet, playstation 2 and dvd.

On top of those two things next time I go I want to do the whole karaoke thing - those places looked NUTS!!!!! I really need to go there with a few pals - was on my own last time but spent my days with the promoters and a couple of english DJ's who were playing there at the same time.

People really know how to look after you out there too - I loved the respect people had for human beings over there - everyone seems so polite to everyone.

I just got back from living in Kyoto for a year ( april 05-april 06)...I think it's impossible even if you're just there for a few days not to take something away from it that's gonna be completely different from anywhere else in the world...
I got over there by landing a job with NOVA(www.teachinjapan.com) which is kinda similar to JET and all around wasn't too bad...I made enough ¥ over there to travel around the country, pick up an MPC2000, a mixer, over 150 records, etc.
def. the best part of the experience was meeting my soon-to-be wife and her moving back to NYC with me :D

GO! JAPAN! NOW!

Japan is by far one of my fav countries in the world... I've been lucky to have played there every year since 2000 and I have meet some of great people that have become good good friends.... this year I even did my 1st dubstep show in tokyo. Granted it was small but its going to grow for sure!

There is something really deep about Japanese culture and what they have gone through. If you go to places like hiroshima & nagasaki you will understand. I guess I am a bit of a history nerd and I have a deep respect for Japan. Kyoto is also an amazing place. Fukushima was wicked as well.

i am not much for posting but everyone should travel through Japan at least once in their life..

now go buy some vinyl!

quietstorm from LL (arata) mc's, i havent seen a dj set

i love being back and forth tokyo/la, and am finishing up school a little to move out there (hell no i wont be teaching english). i made decent money doing dj gigs and freelance graphics.

its expensive as crap and i always reccomendthat if you have no tour guide get really aquainted with the kanji for the diffrent cities. meand the gielfriend have a place out in 八王子, aka the boonies 30 min away form shibuya, but id have it no other way.

Round One seriously one of the happiest places on earth...I def. love the bowling floors with the ¥250 beer tickets and the "LETS PLAY A FUN GAME!" rave time when you can win a photo in the giant bowling pin....ahhhh memories...
