Great post about ZOMBY & Hyperdub artists

Post by optimum » Wed Jun 03, 2009 3:48 pm

Great great post about the w*nky stuff, featuring a magnificent account of the complexity of Zomby's 'Kaliko'. Also features erudite and interesting points on the other main players (Hyperdub, Flylo et al).

What does everyone think? I feel it's probably the most accurate piece yet on w*nky (post-dubstep)

I'm not sure they made claims to be "post-dubstep" or somehow above it all, but if they did...

What do you mean? 'Post-dubstep' is a better term than w*nky, it's just another name describing that stuff. Why the rolling eyes?

Effort to the guy for transcribing kaliko, sounds like the sort of thing that would actually turn me insane, he's a nutter for trying it. Good article too, guy knows his music.

Wow, that was extremely insightful, if a little deep with the music theory. Be interesting to see what happens to wonky eventually...

god is in the details. by bringing back the artist's hand, so to speak, wonky brings out more/different kinds of details.

i like listening to it.

cosign the comment about the fisher price record. it's like doin a dystopian analysis of spot the dog. quality writing though.

big post

why the eye rolling?

great to see a musical breakdown explaining why some of those productions are avant garde. im sure the score of zig zag would be insane too.
