GLASGOW-27-OCT-06 Kinky Afro - Dave Tarrida Vs Youngsta
Friday 27 October @ The Sub Club
Kinky Afro’s latest birthday bash promises to deliver rhythmic rudeness like never before.
Dave Tarrida (Test, Sativae, Tresor) Vs Youngsta (Tempa / FWD>> / Blackmarket)
Techno’s Vanguard Versus Dubstep’s New School
A night of musical nymphomania as two of modern music’s most dirty producers hit Glasgow for the Halloween weekend.
Youngsta:
Dubstep’s most explosive proponent, Youngsta's sets of South London two-step bass are already the sound of legend arrives in Glasvegas for his debut.
His position behind the Blackmarket Records counter places him at the forefront of many styles of this exploding scene and is regarded by most Metropolitans as the most jacking and dancey Dubstep DJ on the circuit.
http://www.tempa.co.uk/art_youngsta.html for his full story.
Tarrida:
Devastating Dave Tarrida, one of Glasgow’s Godfathers of filthy Techno comes back after his set last November spread smiles far and wide.
Dave has been meticulously preparing for his battle with Youngsta by holing up in his Catalonian Studios with old Test comrade Neil Landstrumm to forge and record their unique and cutting edge ‘Ravestep’ styles which were so effectively on show at the Numbers Art School Ball last month.
Add to this Tarrida’s years at the global forefront of techno and electro DJing and production and we seem to have a ripe battle on our hands.
The Sub Club’s Body Sonic Sound System will be tweaked especially to host a battle between two distinct and edgy genres of music at Kinky Afro’s unique birthday celebration.
Residents Mr Mafro and Dougal Perman will lay down their glitchy dancehall splendour before unleashing this clash worthy of marking Kinky Afro’s seven years of consistent musical reinterpretation and exposure of electronic music’s global elite.
DJs and Live sets in Macsoreleys Music Bar from 9pm.
11pm till 3am
£10.

numbers brought a shitload of extra p.a. for that ghostface gig though....though the sound in the subbie is always pretty good i reckon...as long as you stay near to the big subs just across from the dj booth. it can be shit in certain parts of it, because its so big wi loads of wee alcove bits for seating and that.mahrooq wrote:Heavy good. I saw some stnuc were skeptical about the new sound system in the subbie but I was at Ghostface Killah the other week and the bass was moving right through me like fuck more than at any optimo ive been to. Hopefully a similar effect will be achieved next friday.
my only main beef with the subbie is the fucking terrible prices at the bar. even the promos are total shite, like 2.00 for a half can of heineken or whatever it was at ghostface....its far too expensive.
i will defo be in attendance for youngsta though, too good a dj to miss.
mr mafro: whats the script wi the "back to back" thing? is it like a reord each or something?

Yunx up north!
Darkness!
Just found out that I'm able to make it to this. Wuck-idd.
Slightly confused at the versus though...
Is that just a way of putting them both as 'headliners' on flyers/posters or are they doing stuff together?

Re: Aye
Yunx is a don. Shame he wasn't playing till the end.mahrooq wrote:Pure amazing as fuck. Also fun watching everyone work out how to dance to it during the course of the night
Much hilarious dancing. There was one guy in the middle of the dance floor jumping about at Drum and Bass speed for at least 20 mins. Fuck knows what he was hearing!
Wasn't really in the mood for Tarrida techno after an hour of quality dubs however...
