Bit of a departure for me, thought I'd have a go at halfstep. First tune on myspace and up on soundclick at
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemus ... dID=517614
Your critiques are welcome and indeed encouraged.
Posted it in audio too, but stuff seems to disappear without trace of response there (or maybe it's just me)
Hmm....

Set up some wierd sequencer gate to filter and then put two different filters to work on the same preset, there's an lfo to a distortion send as well, so it's quite harmonically rich and theres's probably quite a lot of phasing going on.
Cool that you said that actually, it's one of my goals to get vocals speaking through synths in a sort of back of the head subconscious style. Been trying it with convolutions into pads but only limited success.
Hmm....

Cool track overall.
The intro is wayyyyy too long for my liking. 1:50 before the bass kicks in! A bit excessive, doncha think?
Like the bass sound but it dominates everything else in the mix too much. Just needs a bit of opening up - a bit of air. Perhaps it's the shitty Soundclick player. Any chance of posting a file?

Feeling this
Like the drums and the bass is heavy but yeh the bells get lost in the mix, could be tightened up a bit
The bass sounds fine on my set up, doesnt dominate and my door handle is rattling so all good
big ups

Really like this tune alot!!! Definately a bad bass.
However, I agree with regards to the bells. I also reckon it would suit the beat, if you got rid of the "lifted" (rhythm-wise) breakbeat kick (at around 2:18 and onwards), as it messes up the otherwise nice beat.
If you do another version please keep me posted. I´d love to rinse this one!!!
Big up

Don't think the intro is too long at all. atmos keeps it interesting
Yeah, cool stuff. Like the weird bell thingys. Drums sound reasonably weighty. Maybe another layer, personal preference. Sub is cool, synths r ok. Maybe have some more switch ups on the drum edits and on the bass, for example portamento on the bass and pitch bending it through automation. Second drop could be more interesting. Overall not bad.
Peace

i like the bass a lot! and to be honest i think the bells sound very good right where they are. the beat is so strong but i would like that the second drop would be a little bit more diverse. and i like tunes with long intros

good work!
