dont know how you mean by open source?

what about this for rules:

Reason 3 only (not enough people got 3.04 or wotever it is)

No refills

Rex and wav obviously need to be self contained (file>self contain settings.. tick all the boxes next to samples)

One sequencer track each...

Each person has the track for 5 days? if deadline not met, they are missed out...?

thing is tho.. ppl who get it at the end mite not hav much to add.. so maybe open source idea is gd..

im still feeling the two teams idea, easily enuff ppl (too many for jus one track)

i don't like the one sequencer track each idea

open source means the file is there and anybody can tweak it however they want but the file always stays public

I think two teams would be good, randomly select people for it and who starts and who it goes to next. Keep it simple for people like me

i say somebody should post a file already so we can fuck w/ it

how about this

file goes up

somebody claims it in the thread until they post it up again or give up

if you come to the thread and nobody's claimed a posted file, you can work on it

must be at least 5 people before you can go again

starter track

Post by machine + barbarian » Fri Oct 27, 2006 12:02 pm

i said i'd post a starter track
two issues might be, i'm only working on reason 2.5 but surely this can be used/convert for reason 3 and the track is one i've been messing with this week after having a look at the prod. tips on here so it feels appropriate to use this one....its a bit more than a track sequence but i reckon the starter track can be anything and people can use the sequencer rule later. i'm going to post a link for it later today if peeps don't have highlight issues on this thread......these projects could be organised with lots of teams types i.e. randomly divided into pairs working on same track or how about this.....people broken into teams of bassliners, beat merchants, instrument virtusos, masterers/engineers, MCs, sequencers/arrangers...that idea would require knowing everyones prefence to start dividing the teams..i'm a beat merchant really and i'm nifty at making bleeps and noises so my prefence would be to do the beats/perc...see what i'm saying..this is an idea i've had for a while, kinda of an andy warhol factory for dubstep with peeps doing parts that are fit they're strength areas.............lets combinate muthafukas :)

yea M & B sounds like a good idea.. but that stuff where each person has their own field speciallity, reckon we shud maybe leave that till next time, shoud keep it simple for the first one, just to see if it actually works.. then next time we can get more into it
specially as some people may give up, or not be online enuff or not have right version...

how about this for rules:

WHEN THE TUNE GETS POSTED, THE FIRST PERSON TO POST A REPLY CLAIMS THE TUNE AND GETS TO WORK ON IT FOR 4 DAYS (ANY LATER THAN THIS AND SOMEONE ELSE MAY CLAIM THE LAST VERSION)
THEN THEY POST UP FOR THE NEXT CLAIM

TRY AND KEEP YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO ONE INSTRUMENT SEQUENCER TRACK (YOU CAN HAVE AS MANY EFFECTS DEVICE SEQUECNCER TRACKS AS YOU WANT)

TRY AND LABEL YOUR NAME ON ANY DEVICES/SEQUENCER TRACKS YOU CREATE

WHEN YOU POST YOUR CHANGES TO THE TRACK, GIVE A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF WHAT YOU DID AND WHY... JUST SO PEOPLE KNOW WHERE THE TUNES GOING..

everyone agree on that? think its best to keep rules simple and open as its our first try at this...

IF m&b posts the track tonite r2.5 users can use it, but as soon as someone saves it in R3 theres no going back (ive tried it before)
