Liked the fact that they could do all-out thrashier material, but still have a good pop sensibility - hearing a tune like Hybrid Moments, the melody starts you thinking it's an old 50's tune and then you listen to the lyrics and you realise just how twisted it is. Angelfuck was another gem on that level.
Hmm....

Never really thought of Big Black as having pop structures to be honest, but they were a classic band. That's the sort of music that got me interested in US post-punk/noise. Thought Rapeman had some quite catchy moments despite the unfortunate nameBlip wrote:That reminds me of Big Black, that anihilating guitar, but always quite excellent pop structure.
Hmm....

Big ups to the Albini massive. Loved that Shellac tune Wingwalker - the bit where he's shouting out "I'm a plane" in such an unbalanced way is genius.
Trying to remember if it's the tune Trouser Minnow off the Rapeman album with the best lines in a tune EVER
"Remember what it used to be like,
When all we did was eat and fuck,
I'll let you shave my pussy,
If you let me paint your dick"
Can't see them making the Rock'n'Roll hall of fame yet though. No justice.
