So the time zone thing always - ALWAYS - fucks me up. Yeah, I know... they have websites that tell you what time it is where. I still manage to botch it.

Is it deadline-thirty yet? :|

If you can get it in before I start the voting thread, you're fine. I'll do it later today, or tomorrow.

And yes, Antics, I did get yours

Well, at least the 3 minute song length rule helps a little here.

Signs of Ignorance: he hasn't posted them yet. There'll be another link in the Production forum.

Constrobuz: sure, there must be... but good luck finding 'em. Actually - if you do, please let glottis5 know. I'm sure he'd appreciate.

Yeah, and you can only upload 20 tracks on virb...

I think I'll just throw the rest of the tracks on soundcloud or something

Maybe next time we should limit the submissions to 20.
Whoever runs the competition could issue a warning when there are already, say, 15 entries in...

Bad thing is that people might rush it just to get in (AND WIN THE AMAZING PRIZES).

23 tracks x 3 minutes ea. = 69 (heh) minutes of tracks to listen to...

Change seems to happen slowly wif this samplepack contest bidness. All sorts of solutions - from the grand & sweeping to a handful of minor tweaks - have been suggested, and very few have stuck (the 3 minute rule being one of 'em.)

Whatever the next change we adopt to make this experience more fun and less hassle, we should think it through, maybe look at how other similar successful contests have been run.

Because I can guarantee if you propose limiting the number of submissions someone's gonna freak out and cry foul - which is inevitable anyway - but may also impact who gets into these contests in the future, which is noteworthy cuz I think it's important it stays kind of democratic and open to all levels of experience and not an exclusive clique of "name" producers... which is what people naturally tend to want to hear, or think they want to hear... but thankfully has not happened here yet.

Limiting the size of the samplepack is more low-impact and hopefully makes people get even more creative with the sounds and ultimately make it easier/more clear for people to see who really jacked the sounds the most.

Anyway-

None of this is new.

It's just getting to a point where sooner or later someone's gotta make the call.

I don't like the idea of limiting the contests , however it does seems something needs to be done.

I propose:

- 2 Weeks to make the songs (I think this will lessen the entries)
- First 20 submissions make it (probably will be less of an issue with the 2 week turnaround). Also, this is practical because of voting and hosting options this time the 24 is a problem.
- ANY submission over 3 minutes is eliminated

Also, I think we should try to generally agree on the standard rules and make sure they are posted in the first thread of each new contest.

i think there should be waaaaay less samples. the results will have nothing in common with eachother when theres 5 contests worth of samples in a pack.

-a break
-a song to flip
-a couple octaves of synth notes (if the song isn already enough)

thats all there needs to be
