3 new el rakkas bits (free 320s)

Post by marty » Mon Oct 30, 2006 1:28 pm

finished 2 tracks about a week or more ago and this remix yesterday and thought about sharing all 3 tracks as 320 here with you...

1.) luv rastafari: http://www.rakkas.org/320/el_rakkas_luv_rastafari.mp3
features a very nice vocal sample of garnett silk and is so far the longest track i've done... wanted to achieve a something warmer bass sound and a more positive atmosphere (but maybe too cheesy for the ruffnecks...)

2.) 9_11: http://www.rakkas.org/320/el_rakkas_9_11.mp3
as we didn't know how to call this, we dubbed it "9_11" 'cause the snare hits first the 9 and then the 11. parson called it "vibey and heavy" :D selectors watch out, this could be a bitch to mix...

3.) ms. thing - jump up and rail (el rakkas rmx): http://www.rakkas.org/320/ms_thing_jump ... as_rmx.mp3
quite minimal remix that i actually like a lot. dancehall for the dubheads with a nod to heavy dubwise stepping as well as to dubstep.

enjoy!
and always remember: any feedback will be appreciated!

cheers, marty

p.s.: sorry for not uploading the new version of "murder sound" but it's still not properly fixed... :)

I'm really feelin all these tunes especially the 9-11 one. Your bass is on point in all of em and the beats are fresh.
Thanks for sharing. 8)

Wasn't really feeling the vocal in Rastafari Luv to be honest but the riddims really nice. Was thinking it could do with condensing a bit at 7.30, but then remembered that's more or less the length of most of my tunes. Nice vibe but a bit minimal to my tastes, I'd have liked to hear you go mad with some delay feedback bursts to give it that sudden massive space attack.

9-11's deep, like the mood of it, but I think you need to vary the snare sound a bit, and the lack of a prominent kick sounds a bit odd to these ears.

The Ms Thing tune's wicked though, nice variation on the riddim in the bars, like that halftime/fullspeed cross works really nice.
Hmm....

shonky, you have no heart! :D just kidding. for me Garnett Silk is one of the greatest reggae singers of all time. check out this album and then listen this tune again ;)

in the end a very good idea. when i have the time i'll record a dub version.

the kick drum here is no real kick drum at all but a sample cut out of an darbouka loop.

Vocal timing in the last bit/last verse of "Jump Up..." is a bit out of sync, though... but still nice tune... :D
