Does anyone make dubstep that ISN'T halftime anymore?

Post by google.com » Sat Jun 13, 2009 12:04 pm

The classic BIG tunes of dubstep like those from Burial and Digital Mystikz were not half-time.

Is there anyone reviving the old dark garage sound?

Maybe I'm just not searching hard enough...

Plenty of threads around about the neo-garage stuff. Off the top of my head:

Whistla
Submerse
Sully
Littlefoot
Dawntreader
VVV
Sines
Me.

Quite a few people bringing in funky influences too.

Are you saying the only sound in Dubstep at the moment is half time? If you are I don't think you have a clue what you're talking about mate.

Wouldn't say it was garage, but we got some fire boots.

Seriously, though, a year or two ago it did seem like every tune coming out was halfstep and there were just one or two two step or weird step tunes coming out if you looked really hard for them. Now they're pretty much everywhere, I'm going to have to find something new to whinge about... check out some Dusk and Blackdown sets or Ruffage Sessions.

(My tip is that "what happened to deep meditational halfstep tunes" is going to be the new "what happened to garagey two-step tunes" - get moaning on it now while it's still fresh. :P )

yeah i see exactly what you mean bruv, but the amount techno influenced tunes that seem to be about at the moment makes it hard to understand why anyone could be thinking about an influx of half step.

swings and roundabouts peeps
