Up, Bustle & Out Appreciation Thread!!

Post by godflesh fiend » Thu Jun 11, 2009 8:30 pm

"Up, Bustle and Out - A Bristol, UK-based collective whose rebellious music and unique production styles have given them a fan base that crosses frontiers. 5-album pioneers of the Ninja Tune label. Prolific creative output that no other Ninja artist equalled, followed by 2 'Jamaican' albums of Street Grooves & 1 'Mexican Sessions' album fusing Caribbean rhythms with Mexican spice. !ARRIBA!"

Now here is a group I've loved for a loooooooooooong time.........UP, BUSTLE & OUT!

These guys/gals consistantly release superb albums. Infact as far as I'm concerned they make some of the coolest records on the planet...............period!

From Jamaica to Mexico to Cuba to Turkey they never fail to record with amazing local artists.......and they never fail to take those recordings back to Bristol and mix them with some major funky ass PHATT-ness! 8)

So let's hear it for one of the worlds coolest groups around!!!

"The world once focused on Bristol - Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, Soul II Soul and 'Up, Bustle & Out' exploded into existence. UB&O chose a humbler route - the UK's most famous Independent label, NINJA TUNE. UB&O's sound pioneered this London Label carrying their reputation internationally with 5 creative albums and 13 EP singles. DJ Rudy - writer, graphic designer and producer - is a unique character writing music as a journey and a road to new experiences. He experimented with sounds as a student after inheriting his uncle's 1970's funk record collection, and DJ-ing on the cool Bristol Scene, hosting a 2-hour weekly Pirate Radio Show. At 18, he produced the first 12' EP cut for UB&O - An African Friendship - an instant success; the golden key to labels, remixes, promotion, international DJ-ing, press interest, and an accomplished writing and production career. Cool, happy party vibes - mixing up Beats, Hip Hop, World Grooves, Jazz, Reggae and FUNKY sounds from vinyl, all with originality, confident flare, an edge of mystery as Up, Bustle & Out releases show. He provides street-artist stage banners, original Super 8 and 16mm film-footage for projections, making a fun and memorable evening."
