P.S.: this quote srsly cracks me up btw, YES, i play very dark and sometimes just plain fucked up dubstep...the funny thing you don't realize is that my tunes come from all over the planet...not JUST united states...lol...do some research on the genre a lil more before you cast judgements...

The skulls and crossbones, is only a north America thing, hence why thats what I think when I think of American dubstep.
The music isnt bad though, I play Trillbass-Tony Danza a lot out of the dark stuff. So dont get ya knickers in a twist yeah

Well I guess the 'everyone is an ex dark dnb producer' is a a pretty bad generalisation but obviously I didnt mean it as I then mentioned a dope producer who clearly isnt. I was really just laughing at the skull & crossbones comment as this is something I had noticed too

if it aint deep it shouldnt be called DUBstep

and yes, there are a handful of american producers doing the deep side of things, but I'll tell you what going out around sf 90% of the time its over-compressed wobbler after over-compressed wobbler

i have to say, although there are some incredible tunes coming out of the US (starkey, DLX, S.A.G, the 2step guy from texas whose name escapes me), i do have to agree that 90% of US producers do seem to fall into the 'quasi-140 dark dnb halfstep plodders with big sawtooth basslines and rap samples' trap. that said, i'd love to be proved wrong! anybody got some US reccomendations on a deeper tip?

i make all sorts of styles haven't made any slowed down dnb yet if you wanna peep some of my shit
though i did use rap samples in my next tune dropping on savory audio

and VVV is prolly who you're thinking of from tx

I like the rap samples! A lot of people do, it sells well. I don't hear hardly any darkness in tracks from the US. Hard, yes. 90% of ALL dubstep is is 140 halfstep these days. And I may get blasted for this but dubstep kinda IS slowed down dnb in a way. So what? People act like DNB is the devil. If it weren't for DNB, dubstep may have never even happened. For deeper stuff god there is scads of it. NO ONE will sign it. It doesn't sell for shit. I am really feeling Coma. Misk. Check out some of Symbl's newer shit. The ironic thing is is he IS a dark dnb producer. So if deep is really what you like, searching the download sites for releases might not be the way, you will have to seek out the producers themselves and more than likely they will be more than happy to give you 320's.
