in the end I downloaded some application that wiped everything off my entire HDD and Win XP64 is just installing it's self now, hopefully everything that was b0rk will be fixed with a fresh install and some new partitions on the HDD.
Fuck sake, why are computers so fucking complicated.

haha forgive me.
basicaly is the hdd connected direct to port on mobo or do you have a card handling the sata side of things, thats the only reason i could see you having a problem. but now you mentioned you wiped your drive, was it formatted in some funny file system previously?
and yes, ubuntu is the way forward, but whilst i can use 7 for free and reason works on it more capably than on wine on t'ubuntu then I shall.
ps the media centre in 7 is the dogs.

Re: Windows 7 is a big pile of shit
It fucked up because it's still a release candidate (read: beta)
Im running Windows Vista x64 atm.
i tried windows 7 like, almost a year ago
( Was one of the beta testers )
My personal opinion is that it is a load of shit..
Yes the Gui may be fancy and glossy, But overall the OS doesent seem stable, i couldnt install ANYTHING on it.
I know this was almost a year ago, and i hope mixrosux have fixed these problems but.. In my opinion i would stay away from windows 7 untill the first service pack is out.

( If you didnt know wtf i was on about.. Here's my opinion in plain english :
