Went to Sonar for what I thought was a D&B night and they (Jukata / Mob Barley) were playing something else (Dubstep) that I had never heard before and it blew my mind. I harrased the DJs and their crew the rest of the night for names of tunes they were spinning.

Only thing I remebered was "Skream", went home, looked it up, and although I didn't like Skreams stuff, my iTunes searches led to Burial and Beatport led to EVERYTHING ELSE

Always was a huge reggae head, and in '06 was trawling through Sounds of t'Universe and came across some tunes.

I think one of the first tunes I got/heard was Midnight Request Line.

Been on it since.
Babylon Rocket.

Big up man! Glad to know We helped open some ears to dubstep!

I personally got turned onto dubstep, like so many other people from DC, by Joe Nice. It took me a little while to come around to it and I remember hearing him play it to Near empty patios at club Five in like 2004, He kept with it, and eventually it hooked me, He blew the fuck up and the rest is history.

I grew up with my older brother who was a huge fan of stuff like Brian Eno, Talking Heads, Art Of Noise, Hendrix, Reggae music, Afro/Cuban/Brazillian music etc etc...........later on he used to tape pirate radio in the late 80's (Acid House/Hip Hop etc) so I was pretty lucky to be exposed to "Underground" music from the early 80's up until now.

Dubstep was a logical step for me as I LOVE Dub Reggae and Electronic music...........I guess you could say it was the net and underground mags that enlightened me about the Dubstep ting.

Was a hiphop fan all through adolescence and early 20s, got introduced to grime by my older brother and found out some of my favorite grime MCs were borrowing beats from dubstep producers, so looked into it further and loved it. I guess you call that word of mouth.

dubstep... err combination of semi-accidentally going to nights, reading about the scene, friends on about it, etc. took a good while before i really got into it, but tis my favourite music now!

electronic music in general, fuck knows. raving i guess.

I was in to dub reggae and heard the bug.

Then I went to the Headhunter love fest after party and was hooked.

Some DJ opening for Amon Tobin plyed this rediculous bass heavy music that i'd never heard before, so i was scouring the internet and web based record shops trying to find that similar sound, then i found it. that was summer of 07 i think.
