Can you recommend decent monitors or headphones?

Post by rfk » Sat Jun 20, 2009 7:02 pm

I want to start mastering so I am interested in buying some monitors or headphones. I'd would rather buy headphones as they are quieter and cheaper but apparently they arent as good for mastering as monitors?

Anyway can you recommend any decent moniters between 200-400 pounds and tell me why headphones are worse/better/the same for mixdowns.

Cheers guys

Without try to sound funny, You not going to get great monitors for mastering for that price and headphones just wont do it either.

I use AE22 monitors becuase they are punchy, and are really good at translating mixes well on to alot of other speakers.

+1 if you want to be serious about mastering you're really gonna need to think about treating your studio acoustically too
