Nice, Dub Gabriel is a good dude. I recently took a 2 day, seminar type class through "Dubspot NY," and he was one of the artists involved. It was all about Live 8 and the APC! It looks sick, but I heard there was lots of bugz too. I guess we will have to see if this catches on.TeReKeTe wrote:my man Dub Gabriel just got one; gonna be out his way in a bit so am definitely going to pick his brain on it. The guys @ ableton are really excited.
basically, the thing looks well-laid-out and well-thought-out, so that you can always have x/y/z controllers for eq's, etc, etc-- would beat the serious limitations of 8 knobs and sliders.
though i do like the punk rock, let's-fuckin-rock-out aspect of the mpd24!
we shall see. it's definitely a new world as far as controllers go.

I'm planning on asking my parents for this for my 21st birthday so I can use this instead of a shitty M-Audio Oxygen keyboard to do Ableton sets with... it's just the most OP control surface I've seen specifically for Ableton Live
(Though I'm quite sure it's the ONLY one specifically for Ableton Live :3)

I have one of these, I don't use it for production of for DJing (as in playing prerecorded tunes) as I don't really like using ableton for either of those uses. The way I use it is disect all my tracks down into various components and load all the compents into ableton so I can then remix, mashup and create live.
Regardless of what you use ableton for this thing is a beast, I expected that I'd be tapping with my fingers while staring at the screen, this is not the case at all, once you've got a project load and you get used to it you barely have to look at the laptop at all.
Integration on this into ableton is second to none, it really does just put all the controls of ableton at your finger tips, I've not discovered any bugs yet but then I've not really pushed it hard. If you're using ableton you'd be silly not to get one really and at £399 it's not really gonna break the bank (although the included ableton is pretty shit and you will want to upgrade which will cost abit, unless you already own a full version of course).
APC40 = win although I would quite like an ACP80
