Changes depending on the song for me man. Try to give it a structure though, keeping the 8, 16, 32, 64 bars in mind.

Pop tunes tend to be 3 minutes long, but electronica varies between 5 and 10 minutes.

It depends entirely on the track, but the more ambient it is, the longer the segments. Backing tracks for vocals tend to be like intro - 16, chorus - 16, verse 1 - 32, chorus 2 - 16, verse 2 - 32 etc etc outro - 16

Do what you want, although where the tune is going to be played should influence your section lengths somewhat. If in doubt, make tracks really long, cuz its easy to just chop bits out if you need too. :)

intro 16 bars normaly. rest of the tune any thing can happen i like to keep it in chunks of 8 bars. but sometimes i write using 12 bars chunks. as with every thing in music it depends

I find myself never following the traditional song structures... maybe I should start to...

whatever the tune needs. i tend to keep stuff in 8/16 bar sections, especially the beginnings & ends of my tracks, but as i say depends what im trying to achieve.

this can work all ways!! all depends wat your tying to achieve...
creating unique structures can be pulled off really well but playin it in safe 16's is often easiest to get ya going!!

i see a lot of people using 16 bar intros but i like to use 32 bars maybe more....16 bars just seems so short to me

But if every tune has the same or similar structures, music will stagnate..... (Especially if the same or similar patches from the same or similar synths are used..... :o Image)
