One year ago, he made his first Portland appearance in the Various dance alongside Deejay Collage and he now returns with his MC, THE SPACEAPE!
Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, Kode9 is now based in South London and runs the record label Hyperdub, releasing artists such as Burial, The Bug, Warrior Queen, LV, Samiyam, Darkstar, Zomby, Ikonika and Quarta330.
Truly a pioneer in defining Dubstep and always keeping true to his own sound rather than falling into the wobbly yet alluring trap of "dudestep", Kode9 is the real deal.
For 4 years, Kode9 hosted the weekly Fwd>> show on London grime and dubstep pirate radio station Rinse Fm and in 2006, he crafted the Dubstep Allstars Vol.3 CD compilation released on Tempa records with vocalist Spaceape floating throughout and the duo released their debut album, 'Memories of the Future'.
Far from being a typical party host, Spaceape brings the dub poetry stylings of LKJ into the dread bass spectrum and is a perfect vocal compliment for the full Kode9 experience.
Kode9 & Spaceape have brought their sound worldwide, performing at festivals such as Sonar (Spain), Mutek (Canada), Hypersonica and 4 Hype (Brazil), Bangface and Bloc (UK) and Synch (Greece) as well as playing regularly at the seminal dubstep nights DMZ and Forward nights in London.
Kode9 & Spaceape's new album will be released in the middle of 2009.
