My mates are either dyed in the wool jungle / breakcore heads or alt-rock types into Sonic Youth and The Fall.
I've spent the last four years trying to get them all into to dubstep with mixed results. Surprisingly, the junglists have been harder to win over than the indies in a lot of cases. They're just so used to listening to hectic music they can't get over the tempo.
Everyone likes Burial though...apart from one mate who says anything with a 2 step beat reminds him of Craig David.

Definitely.. everyone likes Burial. The only person I've failed to get into dubstep is my mum. She's fairly stuck into her Dusty Springfield and whatnot.
A lot of my mates are stuck in a loop of liquid drum and bass, and are fairly narrow minded about anything else.
I'm really surprised though at the kind of people I have got into it, one of my mates is well into his metal, which is probably the only genre I can't stand, and he loves coming to dubstep sets and that. To be fair though, he has one of the most open minds on music that I know of.

The same mate i was on about earlier said that Burial wasn't emotional. I showed him Endorphin and Forgive inparticular and he said they weren't emotion.
I was getting fucking annoyed and the only reason he said it wasn't is because it's Dubstep, blatently but if it was Jazz or something he would love it. Fucking pissed me right off and my other friend was punching the chair shouting "WHAT THE FUCK, how can you not find this emotional" then we said he had a heart of stone haha.

he really must do. Burial could break Chuck Norris down to tears for Christ's sake.
i think you should pick out a random Burial track he won't have heard, NOT mention dubstep at all, and see how he reacts to that.
Unless it's too late..

I think you have a genuine problem on your hands with this, this, so called person. Either you are dealing with a sociopathic shell of a being, or maybe you are being led into a trap.
OH, I GET IT.... dude, your friend is just deaf is all it is.

In all honesty - shoving it down peoples throats isn't the way - just take them to a dubstep night without telling them its a dubstep night or take them to a house party when the majority of DJs are dubstep DJs ..... And then see if they enjoy it - just playing people tracks in bedrooms won't get anyone into the sound - unless they only listen to music in their bedrooms.
I don't find Burial emotional - just to put that out there, I just admire the atmospherics in the music - its great walking in the rain / night bus music.
