Do you think Synkro listens to Burial?

Post by staggadub » Sat Jul 11, 2009 10:51 am

I hate the haters on here but does anyone else think synkro sounds like a b-movie version of burial? he has literally taken his sound and copied it, badly. in order to be positive though, i do think his dnb tempo stuff that's been featuring on the autonomics is so much better, what does everyone think?

I think it's more that they've been influenced by the same stuff. old jungle and 2step/ukg. synkro doesn't do so much offbeat stuff, but he's got a thing for garage beats and vocals. that's not ripping off burial, burial didn't invent garage.

hater.

I can see the similarities, but i don't think he's copied his sound at all. Synkro defiantly has more hard hitting drum beats, and now i think about it, usually different styles of bass and samples/synths.

I thought this at first, but Synkros more percussion-led I guess (ie, more dancey I suppose). But yea, if you dwell on this then you spoil the fact that they both make the most brilliant, beautiful essential music. Love them both.

There is a topic about this every week and it should stop really.

The only thing they have in common is huge 2-step/garage influence (like the vocal samples).

Other than that they sound quite different to me. The bass is totally different for one thing.

It seems like some of you lack an understanding of what rhythmic styles are at times. How many possible 2step patterns do you think there are? Even some of El-B's tunes have the same exact kick pattern. lol

Now, if you think that Burial somehow invented tasteful vocal sampling/warping, I don't even know what the fuck to say to that. haha

EDIT: ...and for fuck's sake, not even all of Synkro's releases are 2step. :|

I can see how some of his tracks would make you think that, but Synkro has many different styles. Check that tune Horns he did. Nothing like Burial.

If you think my music has much to do with Burial you aren't listening closely enough to Burial. lpl

EDIT: Come to think of it, though, even if I WAS a "shameless Burial clone" as you put it, how does that invalidate my statement about how people saying Synkro rips off Burial is ignint?
