my only grievance with boomkat is that recently ive had a number of items in orders unavailable, and i really hate it when that happens. you expect it from netsoundsmusic or whatever but not something like boomkat. and then they send you a message telling you, which ends with "we're sure you'll get over it" which I DO NOT RATE it comes off as patronising and cheeky
but i still rate them highly, good quality clips and sick selection of tunes, and the linking between records is the best ive come across. ive found more exciting new music through boomkat than any other shop
dear boomkat

Feel free to accuse me of "not understanding" but I don't buy that, sorry.nedbeauman wrote:People don't seem to understand: Boomkat blurbs aren't supposed to be 'reviews', they're just the press release in a slightly edited form.
For one thing, the Boomkat reviews are reasonably well-written - most music PR is utter trash. For another, all of the reviews there use the same style - the same buzz-words, the same kind of phrases.
And for one final thing, in the 2005 singles of the year feature, in which guests and Boomkat staff listed their faves, a guy called Adam Park was introduced with the following text: "Having spent much of 2005 being the review-engine behind so many releases on boomkat every week, Adam will be joining us as a full member of the family in 2006."
So, tell us again: what was it that people don't seem to understand?

They're not exactly going to say 'this record is utter shite - you'd do better to spend your money on booze' are they? They normally give you some idea of what it sounds like and you can ignore the hyping...DuncanW wrote:Feel free to accuse me of "not understanding" but I don't buy that, sorry.nedbeauman wrote:People don't seem to understand: Boomkat blurbs aren't supposed to be 'reviews', they're just the press release in a slightly edited form.
