This is exactly what I'm saying - there's really no need to get your back up with me here.Surface_Tension wrote:Rational thinking might include something like "gee, someone was offended... maybe I should think that through/apologize/edit the post/whatever to remedy the situation"
There *is* a moral difference between intentionally offending someone and offending someone accidentally with no malice intended. Logical people should be able to recognise that, but also, rational people should recognise that they can't control other people's emotions and so sometimes it's best to err on the side of caution.
IMHO, that is allowing for other people's shortcomings, not hiding your own bigotry. I believe people should act as you do, but I think I believe it for very slightly different reasons.
You do need to calm down a bit though, it's only the internet.
This is where we're actually differing. I consider someone that gets offended by someone who intends them no malice to be acting irrationally. However natural the reaction would be, it isn't taking into account the full perspective of the situation. But hey... what is RATIONAL anyway right?
Perhaps I have a slightly rose tinted view of the existance of the average gay person. The only people I know that are gay all live pretty much trouble free existances.... I live 10 minutes from Soho, which is London's main 'gay district' and, frankly, sometimes it's harder to walk around there as a straight guy than as a gay guy... I've lost count of the amount of times I've been called a "breeder" or similar! Normally it's said in jest so I don't take offense, but occasionally it's not and offense *is* logical...
Maybe things are a bit worse for homosexuals in America? Or perhaps my friends have been exceptionally lucky to avoid all this gay bashing that they face? I know far more people round here that have been beaten up for being a "fucking student" than for being gay....

Love the fact that people "don't deserve to live" like you have to earn that right.

woooo big man, you really are menstruating.Surface_Tension wrote:Aftee wrote:You ever think that you are fucking offending gays by trying to act as if you're their "savior" and saying that they all take offense to it? You ever stop to think that maybe gays are sick of people acting like they have such sensitive feelings that get crushed whenever somebody says a single word?
Just as you're trying to prevent "offending" a few sad ass homosexuals who can't get a fucking grip on the world and grow the fuck up, you may be offending other gays by acting as if they all take offense to this and make it into a big deal. Ever think of that? Of course you didn't. Apparently you befriend a few sad, lonely gays that cry in the closet all day and from them you learn your life lessons. That's not my fault.
Get the fuck over it, it's not a big deal unless you make it into one. They're fucking words that have no relations to gays whatsoever, it's a different word.
Tell your friend to get a fucking grip to, if she gets highly offended and cries when somebody figures out they have to work late and says "thats gay" then I don't know how she's going to cope with the fucking world. Get the fuck over it, stop making it into a fucking pity case. All the emos who get pissed over that can go off themselves, don't need whiney fucks like them in the world anyways.
Keep running your fucking mouth dude. You live in a small town with a very small scene and I'm sure there are enough pictures on your social networking pages to find you in a crowd at the next party in your town. We're going to have a nice chat about manners and who the little crying closeted homosexual that needs to off themselves is. If I were you, I'd start considering moving somewhere a lot further from Indianapolis... China would be my recommendation.
Now you've just proven that anything that comes out of your mouth can't be taken seriously. Don't act like you're going to try and come do some shit. I live in a very big city anyways, not a small town. Your cyber threats do not scare me, sorry.
Keep crying and bitching on the internet, that's pretty much the only posts that you make. Of course you're always right aren't you? There is no room for debate.
It's easy to run your mouth on the internet, half you fucking people on this forum take shit too seriously.

Fair enough. I didn't exactly explode on him until 3 posts of trying to explain to him why it was wrong, meanwhile his circular arguments were particularly more insulting. That's all I'm going to say about it from here on out I think. Might be wrong I could think of something later, but for now I'm done. He's wrong. End of discussion as far as I'm concerned.Magma wrote:This is exactly what I'm saying - there's really no need to get your back up with me here.Surface_Tension wrote:Rational thinking might include something like "gee, someone was offended... maybe I should think that through/apologize/edit the post/whatever to remedy the situation"

His last few posts in that regard have pretty much sealed his fate with me. Not a great idea to be openly biased against gay people when it comes to a scene as open as dance music tends to be. And on this forum there should definitely be rules with regard to shit like that so there is no room for debate. I PM'd Seckle about it, we'll see if something can be worked out maybe who knows.
One thing is for sure, until every single time someone does that shit they are called out for it and openly ridiculed for their absurd statements, everyone will think it's ok. It was perfectly fine to objectify women on this forum until they started deleting all the random porn people posted. When they put a stop to it, it pretty much stopped.
Should be very easy in this case as well... make it a 1st offense warning, second offense ban situation or something. Maybe someone will miss it in the rules or something, so not immediately banning them... but once they are warned I mean ffs.
All I'm saying is whether or not intent was hostile, it was perceived as hostile. His intent doesn't excuse what he did. If you accidentally hit someones car, you pay for the damages. You don't get to say "it was an accident mate" and they are like "oh don't worry, accidents happen. I'll pay for the damage you caused to my car"
It doesn't work that way. You still pay for it. In this case, it's either editing, admitting you were wrong, apologizing, whatever... the solution is not to attack me as being gay, call me numerous names and talk about how I'm somehow offending gay people by saying how wrong it was what he did. If nobody else will speak up, I will. Fuck it.
if the label is great and the music is great, my opinions should mean jack shit in the scheme of things. you like the records, you buy the records. you don't, you don't. I'm just tired of people who wouldn't have bought them to begin with saying that shit just to get a rise... you think if I shut my fucking mouth and never said anything it would sell more records? I hope you're not that naive. I doubt you are.badger wrote:his label is great it's just a shame that most of its customers have to read the co-owner acting like an utter tit over the internets
People who drop their top 5 producers lists and it's Benga, Coki, Caspa, Skream and Distance probably aren't going to buy our stuff. When they tell me that it was my posts that turned them off of our more chilled out, calm and progressive tunes, should I believe that? Maybe I should, but I don't.

but seriously, if you're prone to acting like a complete idiot on the internet then have you thought that maybe it's not a great idea to sign up to an interent forum and spam about your label with the same username?
